Attaching a lamp to a scope

This could be a stupid question but recently I bought a lamp & clamp to attach to my scope. I’ve noticed that I’m missing targets that I’d easily get during the day without the lamp. Has anyone else had this issue, please tell me the scope doesn’t have to be zeroed every time I attach the lamp. How often do ye zero scopes in general? Apologies if these are stupid questions, I don’t have the rifle very long and only have the lamp for a week or 2.

I'd say the above is the answer especially if using a rimfire.Ranging distance is hard but at night unless you know field it's really hard.Also I find shooting at night your adrenaline is up more than daytime so you can snatch at shots

Attaching a light to a rifle is Illegal afaik.

However,

If you need a light at dusk and dawn, that's probably a limitation of the scope (small diameter objective).

If you need a lamp during the day, maybe cataracts?

And I mention that in good faith, as a relative was blaming car headlights that turned out to be cataracts

Could it be that you are over/under estimating distance at night and thus shooting high/low?

It's not. Lamping is legal and firearm mounted lights are fine, unless there has been a recent change to legislation that I'm unaware off.

Yea it’s probably just me so, it’s a rimfire alright, I don’t mind if it is me, a bit of practise should sort that out I just wanted to ensure that I wasn’t missing out of something else, thanks for yer help all 👍

Try to shoot a group at a known distance in the day and then try again at night with lamp attached
