Never given at counter in my station, I usually get it by post in about a week or so.

My last sub in 2019 was 19 days I think (over Xmas/New Year hols), very efficient.

ALL government and state entities are required to issue receipts for items lodged/deposited, under good governance/transparency guidelines. This is how we should be hitting them.

Luckily I’ve never had an issue in 40 odd years, personally I don’t look for one as I normally get same in post a week or so later. End of day I know who the FO is and only a phone call away.

Had to ring the FO today as one of my licenses had expired last week. Renewal was sent in before Christmas.

I put mine into Carrigtwohill Garda station on 14th March and had to post it through the letterbox as spent a week trying to meet up as it’s only manned part time and couldn’t submit it to Midleton, where it will be approved even though I work in Midleton or to Cobh where Carrigtwohill is answered.

I had to meet on the Tuesday and when I arrived I called Cobh and was told to post it through the letterbox. Tried following up twice and was told they will call me if anything is missing.

I’m not sure whether this is normal or if I could be waiting months now.

If you look up your station online you will find opening hours for it. It doesn’t mean it will be open on the dot of the hour so arrive on time and wait for a member in charge to turn up…you know it’s Ireland we’re in not Germany

Unfortunately I tried that and called and waited down there on 3 different occasions without any success, suppose I’ll just have to keep speaking to Midleton firearms officer.

They should give you a time when he is on duty and give them you number say you need to chat to him re a licence

Left my application in the station on the 8th of March for a Remington 1100. No word back yet but will update post when necessary. (West Galway)
