Thought it was good that the other lad, not Fitzmaurice, got it out there that not one Irish person was getting bumped from the housing list for any refugees.

Seems like certain cohorts of society are being riled up by some fairly nefarious characters, possibly instilling a fear that benefits are being diverted, or could be cut, to assist these refugees.

The government would be wise to hammer the message that no one is, or will be, losing out on any payments.

Ok..but hey.. she is probably sick to death of him pumping out that mantra night after night on the Late Debate.

You are not suggesting that Hannon was backing up the Govt. surely.

That would be a first eh?

This is where the government are deluded.

The councils are housing refugees in houses. I know this for a fact from my local area.

Also even if they're not housing direct, the refugees presence takes up housing that I, for example, will feel the effects from.

This is the problem with the government, they talk about housing and all they talk about is social housing. They couldn't give a shite about those middle income earners.

There's about 200k expected here by the end of the year, refugees/asylum seekers alone. That's 200,000 house places that will be taken away that would either reduce house/rent pressure or reduce the growth of house prices/rent. Those 200,000 will end up in housing. That's about 30 or 40k housing units alone to satisfy that demand!

    Completely agree with you.

That guy may be right when he said that not one Irish person was bumped from the housing list. But the Irish are not moving up that housing list at all because they are no longer priority - thats the point he misses. As far as Im aware ukranians seeking housing do not go on the councils housing list at all.

It also amazes me how all stops were pulled out by our government to find housing for Ukranians in a hurry but nothing could have been done to find housing for the homeless Irish over the last few years. Questions need to be answered about this.

Watched a bit of it there again.

    Still a mess.

Why o why do they have to cram so much into a show?

Why can they just explore a topic in depth or at least limit it to two?

Why do they always have to have politicians on, one to defend the status quo (from the government), and one or two more to have a go at the government. We never learn anything new from either.

As the last programme showed, this is just Tne Late Debate 1.2

The only difference is that Hannon cannot hammer into the Govt. as she did on the Late Debate and as Vinnie did before her, as she has to ‘moderate’ and she’s palpably out of her comfort zone in that role.

Having gimps like Fitzmaurice on night after night achieves nothing.

Just tossing out the same auld rhetoric.Need to get more of those who can actually be positive and have the power to get things done, or should have that power, not gaffers telling us what ‘needs to be done’.We all can do that.!

    Huh?

It's a Q&A format on topical and political issues. What were you expecting a soapbox for a view with no questions or debate? That is the format used everywhere and is revealing at times...of both opposition and government.

I agree on the 'too many topics'.

If you have to take out a pre-nup your choice of partner is poor from the outset.

    Felt very short tonight.

Don't think they needed to cover the pre-nup topic. Nobody seemed to be sure if it was even a problem issue.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,024 ✭✭✭sully123

And what's that 'the week that was' bit? Like, here's a list of current topics which we won't be covering tonight.

Very mixed comments on the subject. Being honest I'm not 100% convinced that the solicitor gave the correct information on the subject.

I do know of cases where land had to be sold to pay off a spouse so the farmer in the audience is correct with his concerns.

Didn't see it this week but saw a clip on fb and it's typical of the previous two weeks. Very rushed.

The clip was of some guy in the audience talking a million miles an hour about high rents for tenants and then Katie goes "very quickly" to one of the panel.

Why do they need to cover so many topics? It's too rushed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,556 ✭✭✭Gooser14

Only two topics covered in last night's programme. I thought it was much better & not as rushed as on previous programmes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,316 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

One of the "tenants" in the audience was a PBP councillor, now I'm all for putting questions to the panel but those commie rats are in no position to lecture anyone.

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,112 ✭✭✭✭Brendan Bendar

As small it better on this episode.

Hannon needs to stop waving her hands around.

Dude with the crew cut in the audience knew where to go, go after the only one on the ‘panel’ with the power to do anything.

Went after Collins with all the usual rhetoric.

Have to give the lad that.

I always remember my first time seeing online porn. The internet had just been introduced to the public library services, I was given a one hour course on it and told to train the other staff. So I had to train my male boss who likely never laid eyes on a naked man. I was showing her what was in the net, actually discovering myself at the time. I got to Google porn terms and brought up some juicy stuff, the impact it had on the boss, she started going around doing hand gestures to parents who came in to demonstrate what they could expect their children to see on the web! 😂

Very lucrative, and Revenue doesn’t know as long as you use an alias and don’t show your face.

I expect some of the panel to propose turning the internet off for the country after 5pm as a solution.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,024 ✭✭✭sully123
