I did an awful lot of similar stuff as a head prefect in a boarding school. Looking after a refectory, a dormitory, leading prayers. Speeches for sports day, when staff left etc. Find who stole stuff. 35 years on and it didn't do me any harm.

Making a victim of yourself is an easy route to go down.

There are so many horrific abuse cases.. I can't see how this lady thinks she's anywhere on a par.

All she describes is life in any institution in the 80s with a Catholic ethos. Of course it'll be harsh and you'll be forced to pray etc. Sexuality was repressed.

From the 90s back were harsh times on children and teens in many schools, institutions. There were no hugs or positive affirmation for the most part. Teachers would often rip you apart sarcastically. It's like a different world now.

Catholic schools could be particularly harsh. Most of us got on with it. I'd draw a big line between physical and sexual abuse and what she said.
