Surely even Ireland can't eff this up! Decent performance from the team...

This has been a very calm calculated chase once campher steadied things. I know we always fear the worst but Ireland been in the driving seat for the whole game tbf

Yeah we got there. 😎. Thankfully

weird scorecard, every wicket Ireland lost was courtesy of batsmen getting bowled.

Edit : 1 run needed and we lose another wicket, something so Irish cricket about that.

T20 away series win in the bag. 1-0 up in the ODI series and most likely would have won the first game but for rain. Been a good tour so far, be great to close it out with ODI series win on Sunday

Zim 78/3 after 20overs but they are off for rain and it could be a lengthy one

They are back on and it will now be a 40 over match. Zim 85/3 after 21. Raza at the crease though with one of the openers, important to break this pretty soon

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

123/5 now. Campher has got Raza and one other in the same over

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

183/8 going into the last 3 overs

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Hume and Campher with 4 wickets a piece. Zim all out 197 on the final ball of the 40 overs

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

DLS reviewed target is 201 for Ireland in these 40 overs

Didn’t get to see any of it but a great win going by the scoreboard.

2.1 over remaining but victory secured and only lost 3 wickets too. Very impressive.

Ireland take the series. Both series.

Great win, series and tour. Only downside really is not getting to complete the first ODI when in a strong position. Potential 3-0 series win was there.

Fairly sure we have never won an away T20 and ODI series against a test playing nation before

Great results, was keeping an eye on the scores. Particularly today, well paced innings to take the game. Good too, to see Balbirnie get a few runs. We have some decent all rounders at this level and batting quite deep.

Ireland's group In the T20 world cup has been leaked. India, Pakistan, Ireland, USA and Canada

  • Registered Users Posts: 115 ✭✭InsideEdge

Where did you hear this Kev? I didn't know the draw had been made yet and the ground in New York hasn't even seen any building work yet, going to be a struggle to get that ready in six months!

Leaked group was right. So blatant as usual having India and Pakistan in the same group and playing on weekends. Same goes for England vs Australia I guess.

Playing two games in New York, India on June 5th and Canada two days later. Other two games are in Lauderhill.

Top 2 qualify for super 8s. Its a better system than recent world cups where the lower ranked teams (and associates) had to play in round 1 which was essentially pre qualifying for the main competition.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,810 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

We won’t lay a glove on India or Pakistan. Both are ranked 1 & 4 in the ICC T20 rankings respectively….

hopefully though we can be someway competitive and then beat Canada and the US reasonably convincingly.

hopefully the tournament is a success in terms of the actual games but this bs of yet another sports tournament in multiple countries with venues thousands of miles from one another. Ffs.

Ireland will play Afghanistan in a test match in Dubai on Feb 28th. 3 ODIs and 3 T20s will follow on after it.

Ian Callender on twitter saying that there will be a home test v Zimbabwe this summer too, no date confirmed yet

Decent start by Ireland. 3 wickets for Adair - Afghanistan 86/4.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,056 ✭✭✭MFPM

    Afghanistan 105/6.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,056 ✭✭✭MFPM

115/7. This is a great start for Ireland. 4 wickets for Adair. It would be great for this side to get a win in the test arena.

    Edit: Whoops wrong year/thread

Would be a great psychological win to break this partnership before Afghanistan move in front.

  • Registered Users Posts: 959 ✭✭✭Conchir

    Wish granted!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,056 ✭✭✭MFPM

I have a bad feeling about this match, Afghanistan only lead by 26 but seven wickets in hand. It's quite a low-scoring match, if Afghanistan were to set 200, it could be a big challenge for Ireland.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,056 ✭✭✭MFPM

Ireland chasing 111 to win their first test match. 17/3, it would be typical of Ireland to mess this up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,217 ✭✭✭Gillespy

First ever win in test match cricket. What a day! Balbirnie and Stirling the standout batsmen but useful contributions from others too. Great credit must go to the pacers though. Doing that in Asia is a tremendous effort.

Brilliant stuff. Great to get a first win, and in decent time considering how long it took some other test countries. Good bit of pressure off now.

I would be great to build on through the rest of the tour. Would also be great to get another test in this Summer, possibly Zimbabwe?
