Job done with 29 balls to spare Tector an absolute class act 149 not out ably supported by Stirling 55 and Tucker 68. There's the makings of a very tasty batting line up there if we could find a couple of bowlers we'd be sorted. Only real negative is Balbirnie was a walking wicket again he's adding absolutely nothing to the team.

Cruised to the target in 45.1 overs and lost just 5 wickets…solid effort…

ok it was against the USA

But our lads hit 10 sixes and 26 fours. Decent going.

    Tector’s 149* came off 123 deliveries.

    Tucker’s 68 off 59.

    Solid.

think that will stand to the lads, a real confidence booster…. If they’d have scraped over the line by a delivery or two, they’d probably be concerned but that was pretty comprehensive…

Yep and they recovered well. But we'd want to be winning warm ups against USA. Letting them put up 300+ was playing with fire a bit?

Probably, but my point was more about the tendency of so many people on this forum to be wildly, gratuitously negative about everything. The lack of comments when something does go well is very telling.

True and clearly Tector in particular put up a big score after a rocky start - were we 2 down for 7 runs. Can only judge by the scorecard though, anyone here see any of the action? The run rate obviously picked up considerably in the second half of our innings. Were the yanks bowling nice friendly long hops and full tosses or what happened? Were we bowling long hops and full tosses to give them batting practice??

Hopefully we keep the positive momentum against the Dutch… their ICC ranking / rating in all forms of the game has nosedived and we are a number of places ahead of them in both T20 and ODIs…..

They were bowled out for 214 by the Sri Lankans yesterday but they caused SL some difficulties with the ball, took 7 wickets before SL got over the line all be it with 12.5 overs left but only 3 wickets left….

On the other hand, for years, people were gratuitously positive about defeats, if we were seen to have put in anything approaching a performance…im perhaps guilty too but the plaudits and effortful attempts to seek positivity from negative results and performances was a bit much after a while…Need to be a realist, comes a time where in competitive sport you need develop to focus on what results are being achieved…ahead of just performing ok but not getting a result …I think we are beyond the whole setting low standards and failing to meet them mindset… aim high and achieve results… praise when deserved but criticism when appropriate…

Their bowlers are causing serious problems today 88/5 after 24

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭VillaMad

Bowled out for 193 in the 40th over. Not good. Team seems overly reliant on Tector, Stirling and Tucker and this team won't be qualifying for anything unless the other players stand up and make contributions. Balbirnie in particular seems to be horribly out of nick.

McBrine as opener also by the way doesn't seem to be working too well so far. Not sure what the thinking behind it is as I've always thought of him as a useful nuisance to oppositions down the order.

Yes that experiment has failed and will hopefully not be repeated. Tucker and Delany the only ones to bat well today everyone else was horrible.

The Dutch 29/1… McBrine took Singhs wicket.

apparently WiFi issues at the ground hence the scores being slow to update..

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,093 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

49/1 after 8….Dutch starting to pepper the boundaries. 5 in 5 balls..

the ‘orange onslaught’ it’s been called.. 65/1 now after 10… I’d say we are done.

    102/1 after 14

    🤬

    7.28 is the run rate.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,093 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    104/3

White take’s two quick wickets…. Both reported as brilliant slip catches.

  • Registered Users Posts: 209 ✭✭Lionel Fusco

104/3 after 15 overs Ben White gets 2 wickets in that over to put a little bit of respectability on things.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,093 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    105/4

    Dockrell gets Teja.

coming back well but need another couple … squeaky bum time for the Dutch now. But still favourites.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭VillaMad

5 down now the Dutch. Seems like they wanted to make a statement victory and finish it quickly, but good fight from the Irish bowlers.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,093 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    White gets Edwards 🤩🫡

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭VillaMad

4 for White! What a day he is having. Still 30 overs left in the chase. The Netherlands could comfortably win just knocking the ball around. Getting Barresi you feel is the key to victory.

Suicidal Brainless stuff from the Dutch this obsession teams have with all out smash bash cricket is nonsense they would win this comfortably if they just paddled it around. This is worse than any Irish collapse they've gone from 102/1 to 114/6.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,093 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

114/6 is the last update I’m seeing

  • Registered Users Posts: 209 ✭✭Lionel Fusco

Baresi gone on the attack again get him out and we'll win.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,093 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

White has taken 4 wickets but he’s been seriously expensive…. Gone for 44 off 7.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,093 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Think the wifi at the ground has gone down again. No updates on google, twitter or the NVPlay score site for about 20 - 25 minutes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,093 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

151/6 after 27 overs according to Dutch Cricket on Twitter.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,093 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Less than 30 runs needed from the remaining 20 overs.

Netherlands win by 2 wickets in the end.

I suppose we aren't supposed to comment on us leaving 10 overs unused? Could be deemed a bit negative.

I seem to recall that the Dutch have caused us problems before, so not too surprising I guess.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,093 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

strength of the Dutch side is their bowling attack apparently….

looking at some media reports online and one thing I noticed is how all of them are absolutely physically huge…. Extremely athletic, powerful, tall and fast athletes….

thats a worrying performance and a very significant defeat…. 10.4 overs unused is 🤨
