Just got notification that Google have approved my payment to Payoneer and it should be on my AIB account within 24 hours

So looks like a 14 day turn around for me from application to payment

I applied for my sister at the same time and she has received nothing at all from Google Device Support, but did receive confirmation of Payoneer account set up. All a bit haphazard TBH

I got an 8a. Recent update has screwed the battery. I used to charge it in the morning and it would be at about 50-60 % the next morning. Now it s at 50% by the same evening. Phone is less than a year old. Very disappointed with Google on this.

    That's not good :(

just confirmed my suspicion that any newer A series pixel - a year after, the battery goes wallopers and good luck with it.

Likely to happen with 9a despite having a much bigger battery.

Non A series, such as Pixel 9 is lithium ion, A series are lithium Polymer - good chance of swelling later on, Li-ON last longer than Li-Po and that is where Google cheapened out on it.

Watch this space I guess and see what comes out as leaks for 10a by winter, long after release of Pixel 10 later this month

I got my payment off Payoneer after 3 days which included the weekend, it was €83.47 or something like that. As mentioned in another post, i closed the Payoneer account immediately to avoid any potential future fees which is something like $30, gotta send a message to support to get it closed and that was quickly dealt with too.

I ordered a battery and i am expecting it in the next couple days so i am hoping that solves the issue for me.

My daughters' Pixel 6a suddenly won't charge past 37%. Probably some update applied itself?

Yet when I try the IMEI with Google's 6a battery replacement site, it says the phone is "not eligible for a repair at no cost to you, cash payment, or Google Store hardware discount credit under the Pixel 6a Battery Performance Program".

All four of us have pixel phones (6, 7a and an 8a). Feeling kinda stupid now.

Yes, did put in IMEI of me pixel 6a, applied for hardware discount credit, received 180euro valid for year.

Going to sit on the fence for wee bit until then when after 20th August, Pixel 10 series is rolled out, hedging bets that pixel 10a will have improvements over the Pixel 9a (which has had got good reviews, 509euros less 180 - works out 329 euros, which is very tempting!)

Are you getting the " battery replacement recommended" under Battery in settings?

Has there been more than 400 battery cycles?

Not all the 6a's have the bad battery either so don't know about your 37 percent restriction.

Received my new battery this morning so gonna try get that done today or tomorrow.

*Just went to 3 repair shops, two of which wouldn't touch it because it was too risky as the screen has to come off and good chance of damaging it and the other one said he would do it but at your own risk of screen being damaged.

So may now look into the ifixit crowd and see if they have any agents here or something. Nightmare this is.

Is this issue affecting the A (6a, 7a etc) line only? Any indications that the main line and pro line suffer from the same cheap battery parts?

It is a disgrace, the 6a is actually a class phone, until they bricked it with Android 16.

I'm waiting a full three weeks on Google now to give me the store credit for my wife's Pixel 6A. Ended up opening a support case when they pointed out to me that the IMEI was registered to a different Google account (i.e. hers, not mine). They'd no issue letting me pay them 170e on my account to repair it a few years ago when it was also registered on her account.

I have an active case ID and no way to follow up on it. All I can do is keep following up the previous mail I send them complaining, without any response.

"Beatriz", "Summer" (interesting names for what are surely lads working in Hyderabad) and all the other lying bastards can slide on.

They FINALLY came back to me.

180e store credit and then 82 euro estimate on the trade in.

Happy enough with that in the end, if not the level of service.

Where will you get the 80 trade in?

I took the credit but I'm sorry I didn't take the cash now

With Google's official programme. Can't remember the name of the crowd they use.

I asked in cex today, they'll give me 100 for my 6a

No, there was no 'battery replacement recommended' in settings. The charge cycle count was around 350 or so. Phone won't charge past 37% initially, and later it became 45% and then 51%… I suspect it was recalibrating available battery capacity and perhaps eventually it might show 100% but she would only get like 4 hours of use before it goes down to 0 again.

I had contacted Google Support and mailed the phone to them. They emailed me today stating they have inspected and identified the issue (didn't say what it was) and that they will repair it and send it back for free. Phone is under warranty, so it's expected level of support really - but €180 like someone else got would have been even sweeter. Oh well, can't complain!

PS: In the meantime my Pixel 6 died. Speaking to support - but it's out of warranty, so not too hopeful. Ended up buying a Pixel 9a in a hurry (as our backup phone was already in use by the daughter while the 6a was getting repaired). Overall so much money flowing to Google and they keep selling sh1t devices. :(

At least you are getting sorted now with a repair but as you say, the money would of been handy for sure buying the 9a.

Brave man buying the 9a! Of course i hope there will be no issues with it for you down the line.!

When i bought the 6a, i was delighted with myself thinking finally i have for my needs a decent phone for myself, pure android, no bloatware and just did not expect anything like this to happen.

I got the €83 and i should of went straight to the Vodafone shop and went through their service to replace a battery which is €75 but i didn't want to be without the phone for a day. I bought the battery myself to get it done in the repair shop but they were apprehensive doing it and i didn't want to pay for a new screen if they broke it.

After looking at videos on Youtube, i was gonna try myself but i only went and dropped the phone when i had it out the case and now i have a cracked screen before i even i got to try it one of the days.
So now i am stuck with a genuine battery, a cracked screen, phone with over 650 charge cycles that doesnt overheat according to battery guru app so i'm just gonna ride it out unless they bring out another forced update whereas they cripple the phone even more if battery is not detected as being replaced.
    Fuming!

pixel launch was cringey, besides all that, the Pixel 10 has similar spec to Pixel 9 series, baseline 12GB RAM / 128GB storage, resolution same across,

    https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=13979&idPhone2=13219&idPhone3=13478

very good chance the 10a when it comes out later in 2026 around March, will be similar spec'd as 9a, 8GB RAM / 128GB storage.

The difference is the tensor chip G5 vs G4

Way I see it is, Pixel 6a discount code applied on 9a, selling for 459 right now, will end up as 279euro which is extremely tempting (throw in the 45w charger plug, bring it up 329euro), Pixel 9a is newer than Pixel 9.

Has anyone actually combined the discount code (result of battery impact ) and trade in together to bring the price down even more?

Come black Friday later on this year, will see…Will hold off to pace myself.

I bought the pixel 9a from Vodafone for 250. I'm stuck now with a 180 euro Google pixel voucher. Let me know if you want to buy it from me for a reasonable discount .

Ah thanks Raoul for the offer, but am grand for now.

Am going to sit this one out for wee bit

Just as an update to last few posts of mine - Google support fixed the Pixel 6a - It looks like a different phone, probably a refurb. Its holding the charge and overall works fine, daughter happy.

On my Pixel 6 that died without warning, after a bunch of emails, they sent me another Pixel 6 - and asked me to get rid of the dead one myself. Replacement isn't a new phone but it's good as new to be honest. Good support from Google given the original Pixel 6 was nearly 4 years old when it died.

    Now I have a Pixel 6 and a Pixel 9a but I would rather have a S25 ultra. :D First world problems!
