Again, the movement to the left is nothing to do with the turn, it is moving closer to the kerb in advance of the turn.

How far back from the indicating vehicle do you think the cyclist should be in order to form a 'reasonable expectation' that the vehicle will indeed move to the left before they reach it?

The SI is there in plain text for anyone to read. If you want to argue that it's referring to a "movement" to the left that's nothing to do with the left turn covered in the SI, knock yourself out

As regards the second question, it's obviously open to interpretation and both parties would be well advised to err on the side of caution

Who moves closer to the kerb before turning left, it actually makes no sense, as it just narrows your entry into the turn.

Most drivers would stay central to take the turn better, and F1 enthusiasts would in fact probable move to the right, to hit the apex perfectly on their way through!

Intention to turn left is done via the vehicles indicators, and that should be sufficient.

The racing line has no place on a public road.

Even in racing you will move off the racing line to block someone trying to pass.

The reason a car would move left while indicating is to block cyclists from undertaking as the car turns. But it's seen as a passive aggressive (dk move) by cyclists but it's just defensive driving same as taking the lane by a cyclist is.

It's mostly no longer possible to do it anyway with all the traffic wands everywhere these days. For practical purposes the Driver has no choice but to wait until all the undertaking cyclists pass before making the turn.

Still causes different interpretations which then leads to accidents.
