How do you know what boat your car is on? I've one on order and it says expected July 28th to August 12th.

Can I get a better idea somehow?

My car arrived in Zeebrugge as well yesterday and I have expected delivery from July27th to August11th

@Conar Type your VIN into this website https://www.hoeghautoliners.com/my-cargo and it will tell you if the car was on the ship that docked in Zeebrugge.

    It was indeed, thanks.

Next I need to fugure out how to cancel my Tesla finance cos I arranged something cheaper.

Also, what's up with the supercharger prices? Is that info no published anywhere? I'm usually quite good at searching for stuff online but tesla seems a bit harder to pin stuff down.

Tesla have put up long range RWD model 3's wonder are these from the UK and if there would be much interest/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 962 ✭✭✭JOL1

A Tesla ship arrived at Zeebrugge in last few days .. ..much more likely that this is the source.. These RWD Long range options are available to order also in Ireland so no reason to think its UK

I suspect that towards end of Q3 would be a. good time for discounts to start appearing on Mod 3 Inventory as the gap will be narrowing for the new refreshed model and managing inventory will gain even more prioirity (if thats possible)

Not UK. There’s a boat on the way. They cannot bring in any stock from the uk.

Thanks. I actually replied to the Tesla sales text and they got back to say they've changed it to a cash order. Should be sorted now. I'm looking forward to getting the delivery date now.

    Hi All,

I ordered a Tesla Model 3 in mid May. I am now getting notifications about delivery . Is anybody thinking of cancelling the order and waiting for the new model?

What's the chances of further prices drops towards the end of Q3??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 962 ✭✭✭JOL1

There are likely to be many who have these concerns. However timings about new model availability remain speculative so I guess everyone needs to make their own decision for their circumstances/preferences.

As regards discounts the last 2 quarters have seen Tesla offering discounts to manage their stocks in last weeks. I suspect it will be similar this quarter particularly bearing in mind your first point around potential cancellations.

At least you have certainty of pricing and delivery on terms you were happy with when you ordered a short time ago. Moving from this position has its risks and only you dan decide if it’s worth taking.

    Thanks JOL1,

All very valid points. I have a tough decision to make!

Did you get a delivery date by any chance. My vin says my car is on a boat and ported in Zeebrugge but the same boat has left the dock on its way to the UK

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,635 ✭✭✭Redfox25

Got a delivery date for this Friday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 Lebruski

No delivery date, the Delivery Advisor wont give a date, he just said very soon. He told me to wait on the sms text. I would like to know the date, as I am away on holidays for a few weeks. Hopefully they will accommodate me, if I go ahead.

Fair enough.. they are very cloak and dagger about the whole thing. I’m in the same boat as yourself and I’m going to go ahead with the purchase. Musk seems very unpredictable with dropping and rising prices depending on market

Ordering from Ireland right now, will a Model Y standard range RWD be coming from the Berlin factory, or Shanghai? Also any other info on whether its the BYD Blade LFP battery or some other one would be appreciated!

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 cdn16

I’m waiting for my MY, ordered on 16 Jul. As per the assigned VIN, I can see mine is from Shanghai factory and has LFP battery.

@Jimmydfish My car was on that ship and this is the current info.

The est. delivery date is set for tomorrow but haven’t received the registration number yet. So most likely it’ll be pushed ahead.

Your car will have been offloaded in Zeebrugge ( a transit hub for many non UK countries) but will then be transported to Ireland on a different smaller ship and you wont be able to track using your VIN. you should shortly be offered a delivery date pushed your car is most likely on route to Ireland

    Hi Guys,

I have a brand new tow hitch which I ordered with my MY but will not be using it.

Please DM me if anyone is interested to buy, of course much less than the Tesla listed price.

It seems this whole debacle is coming to an end - I received a personalised text (which went some way to make up for the whole mess) informing me of a Friday delivery. Reg already in my account.

I knew nothing about Teslas 8 weeks ago but now I can track VINs globally (what a life skill)

Shanghai ship docked at Zebrugge two days ago now Irish stick is en route via Hermine currently just off Landsend, docking DUB port 12.30pm tomorrow - hence the wait for inventory limbo and new deliveries for new stock into next week…

For all still waiting - keep the faith…

Snap.. Got a text this evening and I'm picking up my new Model 3 on Monday.

May not be a new model for a year or so.

May be. New model next week.

It really is a guessing game.

There is work to be done to the chassis behind the bumper. I don’t think you can just swap it to another car.

Any idea which battery they're using for the base model Y? BYD Blade has amazing charging curve. I can see online that the Berlin factory is using these for the base MY, but can't find what Shanghai are using.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,443 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

    LFP.

There’s rumours Berlin are using the blade battery but this results in lower range too.

Shanghai is still using the CATL LFP battery.

Here's a comparison of the charging curves
