Well if the **** hits the fan and the electronic system goes down a revolut card in your pocket might not be much good to you when you go to your local store, it's a very scary scenario of course but the people of Ukraine were living very normal lives 4 weeks ago and now they are fighting in the streets looking for food and water just to stay alive.

If that happens a bit of cash in your pocket not much use.

Inflation would be also so high the cash would be worthless. Barter system would likely come back.

Take your cash and buy a few bOxes of shotgun cartridges as they would be more useful in the situation I suspect.

It would be a lot more use than a redundant card or phone.

I never stopped using cash for smaller everyday purchases. Old habits die hard I suppose but I wouldn’t feel right leaving the house if I didn’t have at least a €50 in my pocket. I’d never trust anyone that doesn’t trust themselves enough to handle their own money!

I use cash for most things every day, even for car diesel on a regular basis. No stranger to it and always have carried too much cash ie enough that I would be more pissed off due to the cash in my wallet if I lost it over the hassle of replacing bank cards.

But if you thinking having a few quid cash in your pocket incase the banking system goes to pot is gonna make a difference then….well….

As I said if that happens money won’t be worth anything either. Similar argument with a friend of mine who was stock piling food. I said if you are stockpiling food then make sure you have a gun and enough cartridges beside it as if it gets to the stage that you can’t buy food then society has broken down to that level that it’s a survival problem rather than a sustenance problem.

Gave a 12 year old a lift to football last week. We stopped at a shop on the way home, he had a revolut card with him. Very handy rather than throwing him a fiver when he's heading off

Could be at home again it's like paddy's week 2020 all over again here at work, civil engineering over a 100 vehicles on the road and some of them fairly thirsty. A few big jobs supposed to be starting but no great panic now, quietest Monday morning I have ever seen in here.

Brother/father have 3 bulk cement blowers in with a local factory, a bad day usually was 3 loads per truck, lucky to get 1 a day now, been like this the last 2 weeks, another 5 lorries from different hauliers in with this company too, its quieter now then when the lockdown occurred of the building industry

Local Readymix company after letting a few drivers off and have gone on a 3 day week. The new trucks won't be clocking up much mileage this year. They shoved up the price of a m³ by nearly 10% after Xmas. In the region of €110 now.

The whole economy seems to rapidly heading towards a severe crash.

A massive amount of business electricity coming to renewal at the minute that will be another big cost increase over the coming weeks.

A very large portion of peoples disposable income has disappeared.

Consumers and banks will most likely be getting very wary over the coming months.

Things are going to spiral from bad to much worse very quickly..

I've rented out half my land for the year. Will be grazed by sheep.

I am buying no fert at all. Put pig slurry on the remaining land at 3k/acre and cost me €500 in diesel to spread and delivery of it to the yard. Suppose I better give myself a few bob too for spreading it! Will cut silage off this and the bales from it are pre-sold at €31/bale delivered, they supply plastic. Hope to get 2 cuts though not sure of the slurry/fert plan for cut #2 yet.

They better. It's all fenced with sheep wire and good thick hedging too. Even replace a load of stakes in the last few years. Those ones in there were around 12 years old and most were rotten/broken at the bottom

Every April/May I'd give the sucklers 2 Rumbul & ALLSURE bolus. Going to stick with the ALLSURE as I think it helps with the AI (I have less repeats anyway, could be the Lepto vaccine either) ...but I was going to cut out the Rumbul this year. 38e a box/5 cows.

I got the soil sampled and all grazing came back with Magnesium "High" and Index4 ...does that make me low risk and cows get enough from the grass?

I do put out the odd Mag bucket thru out the summer also.
