There appears to be no long term plan at present other than booster after booster. We know they're effective for a short period after each one but there's no evidence to suggest each one wont wane considerably a few weeks later. It looks to be headed towards a situation of boosters every 3 months.

Hard to say when or if this will end. We're entering into a loop rather than anything with a clear end point.

1) Wealthy country pays for boosters for all citizens to combat new variant

2) Developing country produces new more potent variant due to rampant disease and low vaccination

3) Variant spreads around the world through international travel

4) Immunity wanes and population becomes susceptible to new variant

5) New booster advised to combat variant

6) Repeat
