Hi Socos2 - no checks on the border. I noted the security booth and barrier as we were passing through from Germany to Austria - the barrier was up and I didn't spot anyone in the booth. It was Saturday 29th Jan, I think around 5.30pm.

We travelled into Salzburg, yesterday 19th Feb, we did not need passenger locator forms. Also no one requested Covid certs/tests, Ryanair didn’t request them and neither did the Austrian army at the covid booth at Salzburg airport (we had the certs ready, the soldiers said “No it is not necessary”) On arrival to Zell am See we have not been asked for our certs in 2 bars/restaurants, though we did eat out side. Did need the certs for the ski passes. Feels like it’s all over here bar the shouting, much like in Ireland. Now for some snow….

Mayrhofen was class - wasn't too busy and some nice bluebird days! Snow was reasonable too with only one real icy morning! FFP2 wasn't too heavily enforced, they were happy enough with neckwarmers/buff masks on the mountain chairlifts, mainly ffp2 for the gondola up. Vax certs were checked and validated at most restaurants/pubs.

Still all table service though so slightly dampened the party party atmosphere, felt odd coming from Ireland's restrictions back to Austria!

Great time though, can't wait to go again!

• We are 2 families heading to Zell am See via train from Munich Airport on 11th March. Everyone fully vaccinated apart from two children aged 9 & 10. As per the current German rules hotel sent this website:

So my read is they are exempt from quarantine but must have a clear PCR or antigen test , so I have booked my daughter to do a antigen test 48 hours prior to entry in Munich. Assume will have to repeat process on the return and get the children tested and fingers crossed negative results to get home.

Just wondering has family in similar circumstances gone through this in the last couple week, would be interested to hear of your experience ?

Yep, antigens 48 hours before you arrive. No quarantine required (we double confirmed with the German Embassy here) as long as you're heading straight to Austria. You'll have your train tickets to prove it. But we weren't asked at all.

Just back from Austria the locals can't wait for Friday night. All restrictions lifted. Seen 1 or 2 places closed down because they broke the rules. Never got asked about a mask on the lifts as they accept that they are finished anyway. God the conditions were glorious. Any one going this week will have a great time

Hello - heading to Austria via Munich on Monday with 13 and 10 year old.

Understand we need antigen/PCR for 10 year old for entry into Germany.

13 year old is double jabbed but not boosted. Does anyone know if he is considered "fully vaccinated" without the booster and hence does not require antigen/PCR test?

Also, can anyone confirm if Ninja Passes are still required?

All restrictions lifted in Austria tonight. When we went through last week they only looked for covid cert for adults

Avalanche in Lech-Zurs this afternoon, Trittkopf area. 10 missing. Huge effort to get them out.

Seems to have a relatively good outcome, one person seriously injured and airlifted to Innsbruck, but not other seriously casualties in the end it seems.

It’s that time of the year again. Heading to Westendorf on 14th January. Body not in great shape so I’m just hoping I can do a decent amount of skiing.

Conditions v poor in Austria at the moment, worst I have seen in a long time. +18 deg forecasted in the valleys for new year! Guess the higher slopes should be somewhat OK, but it's not looking great at the moment. Badly need temps to sink and snow to fall.

A lucky outcome, so many variables when skiing/boarding off piste, but would have to imagine being in the afternoon and rising temperatures being a factor.

I'm not familiar with the area but hard to make out any piste markers in the video so presumed off piste. What I read initially was it crossed part of a piste. Maybe it was an itinerary route. Either way good result all round.

I wish there was, it would make diy to Austria much easier. I've heard stories of people getting last minute seats on charter flights that have space from holidays that have unsold but not sure if its an urban myth.

I looked into this maybe 5 or 6 years ago. Crystal Ski said I could book on to one of their charter flights but it was expensive. Around €350 return I think. Maybe worth giving them a buzz
