She's definitely in with a shout alright. 2012 she finished 4th, then 2nd in 2016.

I still think it was unfair to give her the boat ahead of the girl who actually qualified the boat, regardless of if she's a better shout for a medal.

You spend your life building up to an Olympic qualification attempt, you then actually qualify, and then they give your spot to someone else who tried to qualify in a bigger boat but failed miserably (Murphy didn't even get to the qualifying, it was going so bad in the lead up to qualifying, she/they just gave up).

I think it's much same - was meant to be about Japan rising up again after Fukushima, but they've adapted it to the world rising again after covid (possibly a little premature, but you'd have to admire the optimism all the same)
