    Does keoghan have an injury.

A good summary. I think the bookies have it right as a toss up TBH.

KK biggest issue is going out of games and letting teams back into it and getting a run on them. I dont know what it is. Is it down to management or a mental issue. Murphy highlighted it after the Leinster final that it was something they were aware of.

Depending on how training is going I would consider Cody for the subs. It gives us an option off the bench if needed. That will be a big decision. We will need a bench TBH. I think the team with the most influence from bench will win this match.

I hope there's a good buzz around Croke Park for a change, the Leinster final was a pretty depressing atmosphere.

If the crowd gets going it could be a cracker of a day and hopefully drive the lads on.

I think we'll win by 3, hopefully TJ goes as well as the last day, he'll take a lot of minding and open space for Keoghan and Ryan.

Good post in general but why are you worried about mossys fitness? Is he carrying an injury?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 431 ✭✭droppingball

Rumour has it that along with acl for Shine and a very serious hamstring for Marty Murphy that Mossy tweaked or had tightening in the hamstring but should be ok for next week

This is an outstanding Waterford minor team. As good as I have seen in a long time

Nobody could have lived with them in the form they were in today. Ball into the forwards was always perfect, and that full forward, even on one leg, was basically unstoppable. Some fantastic points scored. They'll get a good few players out of that team.

Half forward line is absolutely exceptional, good in the air, good athletes and great work rate and tough as nails. Every line is very strong, full back line again outstanding. No spare 6 dropping back or trying to cover space just man to man, absolute pleasure to watch

When will the returns from the clubs come back on Ticketmaster?

As mentioned above, he was supposed to have tweaked his hamstring. It may not stop him from starting but you never know if he could pull it during the match. We need Mossie at his best as he has been one of the standout performers this year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32 The Flying Donkey

I expect there to be a good few coming off this team for Waterford but that may be more due to the lack of underage talent they’ve produced since the last AI winning minor team was in 2013. Waterford’s underage record has been dismal as they rarely got out of Munster or even won a round robin match at minor or u21/u20 level (after 2016). The Aussie Gleeson / Stephen Bennett generation is on the wrong side of 30 so Waterford badly needed a strong underage team coming through.

Whilst I think this Waterford minor team is very good with some excellent prospects, I just wonder if other teams will catch up to them at u20 level in three years time once their size is less of a factor. They have a sizable advantage over the other minor sides which I think will be diluted once players catch up in conditioning and even height as lads can still be growing until they’re 21.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,742 ✭✭✭Village87

That's a good a minor team as I have seen in 20 years. They have everything. To win a semi final and final so convincingly is rare. They will only get better. They have a lot of great athletes that will fill into themselves and hurling and confidence will improve. This team will only get better.

    They're 16/17. Settle down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,742 ✭✭✭Village87

Why ? They played a brand of hurling that was was man to man, 3 inside forwards, good in the air. Great physicality. All attributes that are being coached out of underage teams and destroying our game as a spectacle, more power to them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 339 ✭✭jimmythesulk

The full forward Spain will surely make it, brilliant player, exceptional whenever I have seen him. Also the corner back keane, really impressive. A county like Waterford will get more out of a good minor team than the traditional counties. Be a few years before a minor is ready for senior though. Looking at the final our minors are up there with the best and we can be happy with that. Winning at that age is not the be all. Would much prefer us to win a few under 20 all irelands.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,087 ✭✭✭conor05

Waterford minors were the right mix of phenomenal hurlers, great athletes and very very well coached.

They played such a lovely brand of hurling to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 189 ✭✭neverbet

Agree with you. Waterford identified this bunch as exceptional from under 14 and invested greater than usual time and resources into their development. Delighted for them and I hope that most will make it at senior down the line. There was a real fear Waterford were falling behind the other four in Munster . The lad on here revelling in our boys defeat and placing us behind Clare in the pecking order can have a rethink. We weren't at anything like our best on the night of the semi and unlike the finalists didn't have the opportunity to learn from defeat. I am already looking forward to our lads crossing swords with Waterford at under 20 in a few years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 662 ✭✭✭Krazy gang

That waterford full back line was outstanding once again. So tigerish and determined how they attacked the ball. Darragh Keane like a young mikey butler or ollie canning.

Pity the conditions spoiled the game. Neither team got a chance to show their full capabilities.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 177 ✭✭Sir Chaz

That's a good post. Waterford were value for their win in the semi final against us, but there's no doubt some of our better players weren't at their best on the night. Waterford seemed to have the edge on desire and hunger as well, which is a worry, but as you say they had the benefit of learning from 2 defeats, and it's probably understandable we were a little undercooked in comparison.

An excellent Waterford minor team but I'd suspect there is very little between them Cork, and Kilkenny this year and hopefully that'll show at U20 level in 2028. You'd also imagine that physically Kilkenny and Cork will catch up in the interim and that size and power factor won't be as pronounced at U20.

Im on the look out for decent tics also - got caught with work day they went on sale. Will shout if i see any popping up

Mossy tweaked his hamstring alright. Eoin Cody has being going well. Management have some decisions to make. Will they start Shane Murphy and eoin Cody after missing so much game time. Teams like to go after tommy,Kevin cooney had him in all sorts of trouble 3 points and 3 frees from 7 possessions. They could also put deegan back in the corner and blanchfield wing back.

Kk have waited 12 months to get back to this stage. A semi final that we should of being 10 or 12 points up at half time. Imploded in the last 17 minutes, substitutes made no impact. It was legs that was needed for Ryan Taylor but management only trusted the same few players. You would be hoping management have learnt from defeats in their third year but it's still more or less Brian Cody's team 3 years later. Jordan molloy and Stephen donnelly the only changes and donnelly could lose out for Cody. I was hoping more would of being done with the puckouts. It's very predictable. It's route one and to tj when under pressure or else short to corner back who passes it back to scruff who just drives it down. David herity is very highly regarded and shellys puckouts have being very good. We all know the importance now of puckouts and the amount of times he has the ball in hand. I don't know what experience Michael rice has as a goalkeeping coach but its an awful pity herity wasn't snapped up a few years ago. Players making a move and scruff too slow to get it out. Definitely aren't on the same page. Have absolutely no doubt tipp will really target kk puckouts.

Tipp have the Indian sign over kk the last few years at all grades. It's a huge game for kilkenny. A defeat next Sunday could finish management and a few players. From talking to a few people it seems they're quietly confident. Kk have improved from last year. Mossy and Billy Ryan have really stepped up,Stephen donnelly is a big help and for the first time in a long time midfield is settled and both compliment each other and have being going fierce well. Tipp will try ruffle these two lads up. The form of John donnelly and David blanchfield is disappointing. Hopefully mossys injury won't act up because he is such a hard runner. Mullen clearly wasn't fit last year and it backfired. You won't get away any more without being a 100 percent.

I'm hopeful we are further down the line than this tipp team but tipp have proved in munster the level of improvement made is absolutely huge. Forde and John mcgrath have regained form and are the go to guys up top. It's absolutely vital we give our fowards the right ball. Tj can still do harm but driving ball towards the sideline and expecting him to win a footrace is shocking. There's still a role for quick long ball but kk will have to be much quicker releasing the ball.

Shane Murphy may very well replace Tommy Walsh and that might be the right call, but being fair two of Cooneys three points came after Tommy was subbed . Whatever team KK pick it will very much depend on their performance on the day . On their best day they can beat anyone, less than that they are vulnerable to teams like Clare last year and now this emerging Tipp team. You are correct they should have beaten Clare last year but the main reason they didn't was Cody and Mullen didn't reach anything close to the standard they are capable of. We are possibly less dependent on them this year and both can be match winners. Richie Reid has any amount of critics but nobody in our defence delivers the type of ball to our forwards he does.

I agree about richie reid we have no one better to read and give in good ball but he has absolutely no presence whatsoever. Galway goal the last day, league final last year, all Ireland against hegarty. I think this year will stand to mackeseey and he is the lad I'd be giving the league to next year at center back and let him try nail it down. Mullen clearly wasn't fit last year. Clare put protection in front of Cody but yet we presisted driving ball in 3v1. Why didn't management bring him out to 11 to get more involved? Our 3 subs made zero impact aswell and they should of known what Taylor was going to bring when he came on and had a plan to counter it . Billy Ryan got 1-2 but was taken off. Anyway that's last year hopefully management have learnt but I'd be very surprised if tommy walsh starts. I'd be more worried about puckouts cause tipp will really go after that because it's such a weak link. We really need forchanges favourite players to go well next Sunday. Mossy, donnelly and Billy. One things for certain he will on here before the match over if tipp wim

Interestingly I've heard players and managers encouraging supporters to get out and support their teams. Liam cahill is at a while,John kiely said it,David Clifford said it. I know it sounds a bit desperate but Kerry had a much much bigger support today. I haven't heard pj Kenny on the radio yet encouraging all supporters to get out and support this team. Unfortunately it seems kk supporters haven't bought into this team but it's the same at minor and u20. It's well known that the bare essentials are only gotten from glanbia. I also know for a fact they turned away sponsorship because glanbia compete with this company at a small scale so they turned down funding. Kk is still a decent brand and it just shows how backwards we really are. Juvenile tickets are what a tenner it would only be loose change to glanbia put all clubs into a hat and the first 5 or 6 clubs pulled out give them out to juveniles and let the club organise the bus and give chaps a chance to see their heros and a day out in croke park they wont forget for a long time. Kclr giving away 2 tickets is all for the whole week.surely the county board had a few bad tickets they could give the radio and try generate more of a buzz. Why isn't there pressure put on glanbia and If there going to be a mean why not give it to clean tech.michael duignan was able buy juvenile tickets in large batches at a reduced rate for that successful. If pj Kenny was there for the next 20 years he wouldn't think of that. Why can't all clubs get together and demand change? How long more will pj be there for? Its very clearly isnt up to the job but It's not his fault .

Alot of posters gone the last while. Brookville is a big loss imo. He had very good sources and knew his stuff. marooned is gone off it a while now aswell. Another very knowledgeable guy biggertheycome isn't half as active as he once once. It probably changed a bit after Eddie scally referred to here after saying something silly and he got a skutching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 692 ✭✭✭Neewollah

I'm confident that Brookville just rebranded himself under another name. Must've been some heat coming on him 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,742 ✭✭✭Village87

Brookville and Marooned both excellent and usually spot on. Thought Marooned would be on after the minor debacle as he was proved right in his analysis of the minor after last year. Brookville an awful loss and gone a while

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 177 ✭✭Sir Chaz

Debacle is a bit strong 😂.

We had a very good bunch of Minors who were beaten by a puck of a ball by the better team on the night, and could easily have snatched a draw. Only team to beat us went on to win the final convincingly. We have a good chance of getting plenty players off that team.

For anyone looking for tickets for Sunday, Upper Hogan have just come on sale, very good ones as well. A sign that they are expecting a very big crowd, they never open Upper Hogan unless there's serious demand.

yes I be had my I suspicions that that brookville has rebranded for awhile a certain word he used to miss use is used by a fairly prominent poster doesn’t make it a bad thing just curious why he felt he needed to rebrand that’s if my suspicions are correct of course

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,742 ✭✭✭Village87

I meant as in last years minor final. Marooned was very opinionated about management afterwards
