To be honest, both of those teams should have been in Roinn A. I know Dunna were originally in A and requested to drop back to B. After being in A semi final last year strange that they would drop back with a lot of good underage teams in recent years. Most of that Tullogher team competed in the business end of Roinn A championships over the years also compared to some of the teams that competed in A. A lot of intercounty u-20 players involved on both sides

Probably agree with you there. Yere stick work was very good. Holden no 12 impressed me also and ciaran hickey. Yeah maybe I was bit harsh on fitzpatrick, he nullified Murphy pretty well and is a great striker. Ye should be going hard on intermidiate next few years.

Just expected more from tullogher county players. Like I said a chap who can't make their intermidiate team gave a motm display with 8 points from play and showed leadership.

I think this was only a recommendation and not a motion but with the way it was received from other clubs and the top table I'd be very very surprised if this wasn't introduced next year.

We are going in the right direction. The win yesterday will do loads for the younger lads confidence. We have good management in place for next year so hopefully we will begin to see reward.

Fair point on Tullogher county lads but in fairness to Marty Murphy himself and Joe Fitz had a great battle

Shake up on the top table..... Bord na Nog committee is deplorable has to be the worst of all the main hurling counties .....and that's being soft on them

I think the main CB are genuinely trying their best but are just incompetent and that's why they are so bad. The Bord na nOg are an absolute joke, as you say by far the worst bord going, they had pass a motion this year to have at least one meeting at least once every 2 months, how it has been let get this far the last few years is a joke! All down to one man and his ego thinking he knows better than everyone else and what's best for the rest of the county.

2 huge men alright. Denis Walsh worth a run with kilkenny? Lovely striker

I don't disagree with you in general. One bad year is not a disaster depending on how they're set up for the future. I haven't seen the accounts at all maybe there was something exceptional this year that caused the loss.

Your explanation about the net assets for this year still doesn't make sense though. I don't mean to derail the thread with an accounting lesson but you're either misunderstanding the accounts or leaving out something important.

If the Board made a loss for the year then their retained earnings/reserves decreased. Net Assets would have to decrease also or the Balance Sheet would not balance.

It's not possible for the total assets to increase, the liabilities to decrease while still making a loss for the year.

Its very stale from the top down. A huge clear out is badly needed. We have all heard about the scoreboard going to tipp because of cost or tirlan objecting to certain sponsors. Kk is one of a few counties without a center of excellence because Dunmore is a dump literally.Look at wexford below with lights, new seating and ferns training center. Kk wont even wash the walls around the stadium its filthy. There's one or two lads here on some committee because they're in huge denial.

There's little doubt that a couple of soldiers have been sent on here by the County Board to do a bit of PR work.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,143 ✭✭✭✭greenspurs

    why?

What would be the point/need to do that??

If they are as bad as you think, and as people say that they are - why would they care what 5-6 anonymous posters on boards think of them? Shur they are elected and are still serving ……

*disclaimer - im not a member of any kk board. 😄

There is paranoia on here when somebidy holds a different viewpoint. No connection to Co Board, never had never will. Surprise, surprise,Agree with you there is a malaise within the County Board and the County in general regarding hurling matters. We are all to blame ,same in a lot of clubs, only one standing of whatever calibre gets the job. It is time consuming thankless work and if nobody else is prepared to volunteer we get what we deserve. No point ridiculing them or those that point out the obvious, if not prepared to do anything about it. On a different note for those of us that travel in hope the six Allianz league matches are available in a package for 90euros and 3 matches for 50eu.

What was Clara's motion around fixtures? And did it get through

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,278 ✭✭✭Marrooned

we’ll Never bet any more info on the league package looks to be a good deal.nothing to look forward to in the mean time with the demise of the Walsh cup.i cannot see us doing well in the league?

At least there has been a bit of fresh air into the squad and some of the older lads who have been poor for a while are gone. The league will be interesting, it will really tell how good or bad our new younger players are. We badly badly need to now find a number 6. We have been decimated in that position for years in the bigger matches

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 351 ✭✭Nedflanders02

I think he needs to pick his 6 and give him the whole league to settle in and gain experience, with Eddie Donnelly not committing to the panel it's hard to know who will get the nod at 6. David Blanchfield would be my choice but Lyng seemed to pick everyone bar him last year to have a go. Lyng needs to be brave with his selections next year, if we have a bad league so be it but the main thing will be to find a centre back and 3/4 new players.

Interesting article in the independent today talking about Mackessy joining kilkenny saying the below:

"Niall Shortall (Ballyhale), Shane Staunton (Clara), Luke and Peter Connellan (Thomastown) are others handed the chance to make a mark over the winter as Timmy Clifford, Liam and Kevin Blanchfield, Conor Delaney, Conor Heary and David Fogarty make way"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,603 ✭✭✭Village87

I can see the reasoning of sticking with Blanchfield at wing back. He is an attacking threat there, great in the air and is your kind of Kyle Hayes type wing back. Deegan is getting on now and must be 30 soon, he never really nailed down the number 6 jersey and his displays in the club all ireland and county final this year probably show he is not good enough to play there. I would leave Hugh Lawlor full back, possibly the best full back we ever had. The centre back jersey is a big problem and until we find a number 6 our re build will be slower.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 351 ✭✭Nedflanders02

I can see your rational in leaving David at wing back, I think the reason I put him at 6 was because of the lack of options we have there, no real stand out candidate which is worrying. I don't think Deegan is the answer at 6 either, I thought he had a decent year at midfield and I think that's his best position for us. I agree Huw has to stay at 3, he's arguably the best full back in the country and we don't have any obvious replacement for him. It's a pity they wouldn't release the panel like other counties have, at least it would give us a flavour of who we can expect to see next year. Does anyone else find it very strange that they still haven't ratified the backroom team for 2025 yet?

Allianz hurling league packages via Ticketmaster is where I accessed them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 313 ✭✭jamesbond2022

I think the spine of the team has to be the priority goalie fullback and centre back and centre forward

Murphy Lawlor Blanchfield and j Donnelly

It’s easier to slot someone into wing back the likes of a Shane Murphy Jordan Molloy etc than find a centre back to build the team around

Blanchfield is a serious operator has great recovery pace if he’s turned he has the long levers to get back at his man to get a hook or block etc

Strange that lyng can’t just leave him in the centre

Deegans days as a back for Kilkenny are finished he offers much more around midfield

Conor Heary being dropped is a bit of a surprise, the fact he made the 26 for the All Ireland semi Final I thought would have suggested he would have been going well in training.

Him and Darragh Corcoran being dropped is a big blow to them as I think they both have plenty to offer more than some of the younger players currently in there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 155 ✭✭Box to box

Heary is going travelling as far as I know. Be intresting to see how macanassey goes. Could he go to 6?Couple of challenge matches against wexford and waterford organised for early January.

Just massively against the whole Mackessy thing. So disappointed he's been parachuted straight in. And from what I seen of him with Loughlins there's no way he's good enough to play 6. Not even remotely close.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,603 ✭✭✭Village87

I agree completely. No way is he good enough. I agree Kilkenny do not need to be importing hurlers from other counties.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 654 ✭✭✭jeff bingham

100%. There should be at least a 12 month eligibility period. If not 24.

I heard the KK team will be playing a few intercounty games before the league, firstly will the supporters have access and secondly if so will there be a charge.

Well technically we're not importing him seeing he's playing club hurling in the county. Probably better if you had to be playing a year or so before being eligible alright
