"The trolls are the people posting peer-reviewed sources from reputable united state universities.

The people mud-slinging with every vague accusation they can think of without a single source are not the trolls. "

The fact that you actually think he has Parkinsons, not even saying there's a "theory" about, really epitomizes how feeble-minded your concept of this subject is.

  • Registered Users Posts: 851 ✭✭✭vintagecosmos

Ehh... That's exactly how it works. US troops and other NATO member troops are stationed throughout the Eastern bloc. Warplanes, naval wargames etc a regular occurrence.

The Cuban missile crisis influences decisions today still. The thought of NATO expanding into Ukraine is absolutely a concern for Russian security.

The western response to the annexation of Crimea and the incursion into Georgia in recent times only bolstered support for Putin at home.

Support at home is what truly matters to Vova.

It's hard to talk with people who are so dumb and clueless they don't even know the US would have troops there.

And your evidence that as a 70 year old, he's perfectly healthy ? ( don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing ill health on anyone )

It can be very hard to explain things to people who haven't lived in Russia or surrounding countries how things actually are. I wouldn't call them dumb, just not informed. In the same way you could say the same of regular russian people who only get their news and opinion of the west from Channel One.

Putin is popular in Russia. I was there for elections. A few vocal dissenters are nothing in comparison to his support base.

He's been seen less in public over the last few years ,at one stage he disappeared for a couple of weeks ,it was suggested he suffered a stroke

So why the big deal at election time then if he is that popular? The suppression of the opposition? etc. Because that is happening, and in Russia, and has been happening since Putin came to power.

Yeah, he's acting as if there were some sort of highly contagious and potentially fatal global pandemic virus that he would be considered highly vulnerable to.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

Pre pandemic he was the same ...

    Another excuse so .....

Wait didn't he claim Russia cured covid with Sputnik 🙈🙈🙈

The reason many Russians vote for Putin is not because they particularly like him but it’s to keep the biggest opposition party the Communists out. They don’t want a return to communism.

The Irish Times interviewed Russians living in Ireland who were eligible to vote in the Russian election and that’s what they said- no return to communism please!

That sounds like a democracy to me.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

@Elmer Blooker The reason many Russians vote for Putin is not because they particularly like him .

It's because they have no other choice ,zero opposition ,

    You have Putin

    You have Putins running mate

You have Putins chosen runner from his party with zero support

You can't run against Putin unless you have permission to do so ,

Putin cannot lose because he controls the election even if 80/90% of Russians voted against him he would still win a landslide election ,

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,387 ✭✭✭jmreire

Just because they ( supposedly ) don't want a return to Communism, is not quite the same thing as saying that they are happy with Putin. And believe it or not, compared to Putin's Russia, many would much prefer a return to communism. Go to Russia, travel around the Country, see what its like and ask ordinary Russians what they think. You might be surprised just how many wish for a return of the old communist system, bad and all as it was, so that's how desperate they are. But will they ever get a chance to vote on it in free and fair election's.??? I doubt it very much.

The Baltic eu states who are Nato members are seeking an increase to deployment to their states and more regularly to deter outside aggression from Putin at the same time the Slovakia government has signed a military treaty with the US which gives access to two airports in the country which share a border with Ukraine , with the possibility of US troops be deployed to Slovakia at a later time ..

And to think Putin thought he was going to get rid of nato

  • Registered Users Posts: 364 ✭✭animalinside

Do the US particularly like Biden? Are they happy with Biden or just chosing him as the best of the alternatives due to a broken political system?

Do Irish people particularly like Mehole?

I'm not sure where this anti-Putin stuff comes from. Russia has its right to prevent aggressive military build-up around its border just as the US would object to Russian missiles being pointed at New York from Mexico.

  • Registered Users Posts: 364 ✭✭animalinside

Are they seriously just taking the piss at this point?

I cannot fathom the mental gymnastics it would take to take this seriously to explain their FAKE and FALSE predictions that Putin was about to invade, which we all TOLD YOU wasn't going to happen.

I reckon if you questioned whoever came up with this it wouldn't be long before you got them skitting laughing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,949 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

    It's the Daily Mail....

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,949 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

If we don't much like Meehole, it's not because he sends secret police goons out to poison us, or imprison us or burn out our businesses or disappear our families.

Your really need to stop with these bullsh1t comparisons.

The Daily Mail is not making it up - there are plenty of other publications with the same headline.

Putin has never done any of those things to his own people (only to a small number of individuals who have committed grave treason against Russia). See this is where there's a problem - when you start saying things like that about him with no evidence.

  • Registered Users Posts: 364 ✭✭animalinside

"Disappear their families" - don't be ridiculous. Even the conspiracy theorists haven't claimed that. You are thinking of the old USSR.

Come on, a little intelligence please.

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,949 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

Yes sorry, I'm wide of the mark on that one. There hasn't been many widely publicised incidents of that.

They don't do that much anymore because it sends no message. The Putin regime would far rather poison people in public places, or report that they've met with an unfortunate accident in custody and died, or simply make whatever their political activity is, illegal and imprison them for open ended periods.

F**k you and your intelligence, did you get Putin's c0ck in your Christmas stocking again?

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,949 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

US has rejected our demands on NATO, Russia says - and military specialists are talking to Putin about 'options'

    -Sky News

The sham Russian engagement continues and the people of Ukraine get to live longer under an anxious cloud.

It'll soon be time for the combined Western military to squash Putin's fascist army like a cockroach and no longer have to put up with his daily paranoid diatribe and rhetoric of an era long extinct.

  • Registered Users Posts: 364 ✭✭animalinside

Cuba is a tiny country with little power and does not have Russian military presence there.

Russia hasn't invaded multiple countries and has no intention to. It had a violent dispute with Georgia also over NATO, it later annexed Crimea democratically.

Death toll for the uprising in Kazakhstan is capped at 164 dead ,

But city morgues are supposedly full of bodies in body bags , and many of them have suffered a single gunshot to the head ......

Now theres questions that need answering

  • Registered Users Posts: 23,949 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

No matter who did the shooting, it's down to the Kazakh regime that allowed the circumstances to take place where protestors were murdered. Tokayev should not get off the hook and have the charges that need to be levelled at him added to Putin's wrap sheet. This is all Tokayev.

  • Registered Users Posts: 40,291 ✭✭✭✭Gatling

Absolutely the shooting was all over before the Russians arrived ,summarily executed, this doesn't bode well for the 8000+ people who are currently being detained by Kazakhstan's authorities ,

That's nothing more than a massacre

If Russia invades or annexes part of Ukraine which seems likely at this point,s the US won't be responding with any military comeback and if they did it would be one of the stupidest things they have ever done. They really shouldn't want to get into a conflict with Russia here, who have the Chinese on standby as backup.

China only have one priority and that's China.

The chances they enter into a pan-eurasian war over a territory that has zero strategic value to themselves is zero.

Though large, the Chinese economy is not very diversified and they are absolutely dependent on selling huge volumes of crap to the West. While the opposite is also true to a large extent, China are more exposed and aren't going to choose Ukraine as the hill to die on.

Their red line will be Taiwan or the archipelagos of the South China Sea. The very reason you won't see the West pushing those too strongly.
