    Dead isn't it.

It was a great fight, so was the Gamrot v Hooker one.

Hooker and Gamrot, and Izzy DDP, were fantastic. Was delighted with the wins for both guys.

Got to hand it to DDP, he doesn't do anything particularly well but his weird strikes, pressure, strength, deceptively good cardio are obviously just a serious combination guys can't deal with very well.

Putting aside his overall run, a three fight win streak of Strickland, Whittaker and Izzy is very impressive.

Sounds like a good event, looking forward to catching the fight highlights on Virgin.

No idea how DDP pulled that off, his style is just so awkward and he looked wayward at certain points.

His last 3 wins have been against really impressive opposition as well.

Mighty Mouse retires. Let's say...six months before he's back.

This is great. Griffin vs Bonnar vibes.

    Some CTE there for sure.

I travelled over to Oktagon 62 in Frankfurt at the weekend, what an event, almost 60,000 in attendance and stadium consistently 2/3s full during the prelims, not like the events in the Point when the place is empty until the last 3 fights.

Will Fleury with a massive KO of Pavol Langer. Overall some really good fights throughout the event and with a massive stadium feel. Also buying litres of beer for €13 was fairly alright for a stadium.

Fleury stull juicing by looks of all the acne on his body and his new found muscles in his mid 30s.

Easy win for Ngannou. Takedown and fists on the floor. He barely made it into the Octagon he was so emotional.

An awful event all round. Maybe the worst atmosphere of any fight even Ive ever seen. Was like a covid era atmos.

Huge respect to Paul Hughes. Massive step up in competition and he delivered.

UFC 308? Is it PPV, and what channel showing it?

    Edit: TNT PPV

I know a lot of people focus on the sportwashing side of combat sports in that area and I understand that but for me a massive issue is the atmosphere is absolutely dire. Their was more atmosphere at the apex last night ffs.

So happy for Frank , such a class act and glad him loving the Ufc worked out so well.

    Great win for Hughes.

Looking forward to seeing Magomedov in the first fight of tonight's main event. Future champion in the making.

Tonights card looks good. Hopefully the reaper and Max win.

It's great to see a card where I don't have to set my alarm for 3a.m to see the main events

Stating the obvious, but both Topuria and Chimaev really are something else altogether. Stunning.

Maybe Khamzat might actually fight again sometime relatively soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,876 ✭✭✭pappyodaniel

How sound is Topuria? KOd a legend, gave him respect in the post fight interview and arranged his next fight in a gentlemanly style in the octagon.

McGregor nonsense is a thing of the past.

Topuria is the new star of the UFC. He will fill out the Bernabeau if they ever go to Spain as well.

Khamzat looks unbeatable again, dismantled the Reaper

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,707 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Very enjoyable card. Topuira looks nothing, but is really special. Delighted he knocked Holloway out. Looked like different weight classes. Max really never loaded up. Same pedestrian striking

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,636 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Evloev has to get his shot before I'm willing to call Topuria a p4p contender.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,075 ✭✭✭Carcharodon

Great card, some really good fights on prelims also

Wanted Whittakerand Max to win but you got to appreciate the skill level of Khazmat and Topuira, Max definitely have him in trouble and could of won over 5 rounds but you knew he wasn’t going to knock him out but you definitely knew Topuira just needed be clean shot, high level MMA

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,778 ✭✭✭Homelander

Honestly I'm not surprised by the result for Max but I did have a slightly higher hope than I would normally after he starched Gaethje. It was a good fight while it lasted though.

Kamzhat took no damage so hope we get to see him fight very soon. Really would prefer him to fight DPP over Strickland again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,271 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

It will be Volk and then maybe Diego Lopez. Evloev is a boring points fighter who isn't good for business so he can go back of the line. UFC has got Belal and Merab, no need to give another dullard who won't draw money an opportunity.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,636 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

He might be boring to those who want finishes but he's a fantastic fighter who controls everything, he's an artist in my opinion. There will always be a question mark about a champion until he beats the best. Evloev is unbeaten and he's beaten a number of the top ranked fighters in the division. He has to get his shot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,075 ✭✭✭Carcharodon

True but you know how it works, those type of fighters need to overly prove they should get a title shot, it can be frustrating but also the benefits of how the UFC works is that we get the fights we want for the most part. Guys really can’t dodge fights, some very interesting options on fights for Topuria, it definitely looks like Volk which totally makes sense but McGregor is always throwing his name in which would be one of the biggest fights ever but the chances of McGregor coming through are slim, it’s a broken record and honesty, he would probably get smoked. McGregor is like the boy that cried wolf now, he is just looking for pay days, these other fighters are concentrating more of becoming a champion, obviously it’s all about money for fighters but the lure of being a champion is what these guys live for

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,271 ✭✭✭✭Rjd2

He will get his shot if he beats Sterling which is fair enough. We are getting the Volk rematch for better or worst first, if he wins then it should be Diego Lopez because he actually is an exciting fighter who has finished people in the UFC unlike Evloev who is a points machine.

This is the entertainment business so he will have to wait his turn .
