37, second Pfizer dose in Citywest on the 31st.

18 days after the 1st dose and friends who had their jab the day after me have their second one the following day so it's a pattern.

You shouldn't have any issues with going in with them.

I was able to bring someone in with me due to being a fainter and afraid of needles. There was at least one other person when I was there that had someone they know accompany them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,481 ✭✭✭lulublue22

Apparently 16 is the age for medical consent so 16 & 17 year olds will go in alone. The 12-15 age group will need to be accompanied by a parent / guardian.

ETA just saw your update there- you will be able to go in with them in that case.

Is Louth still lagging behind does anyone know? Received my vaccine on July 6th haven't heard about second dose yet.

Day 27 after dose 1 here and no 2nd appointment yet.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20 doodlebla

Is that Croke park? I have gone over the 28 days. I called them and they just told me to wait longer. I wonder if I could just go to a walk-in centre and get the second dose.

    Dose 1: 07/07

    Dose 2: 31/07

    Vaccine: Pfizer

    Venue: Punchestown

    24 day interval.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,334 ✭✭✭✭leahyl

Think walk-ins are for first dose only. I doesn't matter if you go over the 28 days, it can be up to 42 days.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20 doodlebla

I'm sure it doesn't matter, but they say you will get your second dose between 21-28 days and instead they are giving some people second doses at 18 days and some having to wait longer than 28 with no obvious logic. In particular when you have walk-in centres, forcing someone to wait for an appointment at one vaccine centre when they could go to another makes no sense.

Well it does make sense because they're trying to get as many first doses into arms to begin with.

Up to last week there were people waiting 42 days in Cork and other places.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20 doodlebla

The goal of giving as many first doses as possible doesn't match up at all with the practice of giving second doses for people after 18 days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,209 ✭✭✭airy fairy

I think it matches up with availability. Don't take it personally. I haven't heard of one person being forgotten in the system for their 2nd dose yet!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 20 doodlebla

Sure, it is just annoying that they put a specific time range on their website and don't stick to it. I don't take it personally, I just think its poorly managed.

39, second dose in Citywest tomorrow. 23 days after first dose.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,364 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Got my text for 2nd appointment for this Saturday July 31st.

Had first vax on the 14th July

    age 33

    Cork

Really ploughing through this now they are.

Any news on how 2nd dose waiting times are looking in Swords these days? They were not great a few weeks ago but haven't seen a lot of posts since. I got first vax on the 9th so the 6th would be day 28 for me. Due to travel on the 16th then so I'm cutting it fine!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 70,309 ✭✭✭✭L1011

There's someone on my local areas Facebook page who is apparently waiting since the 31st of May for their second. I can only assume they're not being in any way pushy when they phone to ask why!

  • Registered Users Posts: 20 doodlebla

8 weeks. If they get it now it is supposed to be at its peak effectiveness according to the study the UK did. I would imagine at this point though that they aren't going to get called without making a fuss.

It also makes it very difficult for people with children if both parents have an appointment at the same time... as children are not allowed attend with you

Age 37 received first dose July 8, received text for second appointment 1 August so a bit less than the full four weeks. Helix/Swords

  • Registered Users Posts: 369 ✭✭Sam W

My missus and I have the first jab at the same day (we are same age), but we are planning to get the second jab on different days (and I believe it is the sensible decision). Many people have quite some side effects for up to 2 days, so it would be good for the one person to be able to take care of the other in case it happens (and also someone has to take care of kids and walk the dog etc).

    Age: 34

    First shot: 14th July

    Second shot: 5th August

Very surprised i got my second shot so quick

  • Registered Users Posts: 18 MadsFi

Can I ask was it today you got the text? I see some centres are scheduling up to the 5th so I wonder if Swords are a bit behind and maybe I'll get my text tomorrow 🤞

This is why I think there should be a way to choose your date . My son is in Canada and for that very reason left five days between his vaccine and his wifes .They had no one to mind the baby if both were unwell after it .They could book online once there age group came up

Registered with the HSE, once it opened.

But found out my GP could give me, my vaccine sooner.

Given that the HSE has a valid email from me, resulted in my cert being issued on the same day as my second dose, as to being posted.

The HSE portal was also updated to show my status as fully vacninated.

Great to see GP systems/ HSE systems working so together.

    Age: 35

    First shot: 1st July

    Second shot: 28th July

    Type: Pfizer

Vaccine cert sent to my inbox:28th July @23:43

Second jab done today, all arranged via my local GP.

    Age: 35

    First: 30/06

    Second: 29/07

    Type: Pfizer

  • Registered Users Posts: 369 ✭✭Sam W

Got the appointment for second jab on 5 Aug in Citywest, 18 days after the first one. Age 30.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,781 ✭✭✭cython

The Pfizer advice was never for "at least 28 days" between doses, and their own programme for staff and their household members was operating on a 21 day interval (I got my vaccine through this). The HSE and/or NIAC set the interval to the longer 28 days, I assume to conventiently co-term the interval with that of Moderna and make for similar management of the system and second dose appointments.

Today I got the text for my second dose of Pfizer at the Aviva, scheduled for the 4th of August. 19 days after the first vaccine. It’s a lot sooner than I’d expected and I’m delighted! :-)

hi guys , got my first Pfizer jab in punchestown on the 16/07 (33yrs old) and I’m awaiting a call for my second . I’m due to fly to the uk and back on 13/14th august. Should I ring the HSE and advise of this if I don’t hear back in the next few days of my appointment? Would they be able to push it forward to ensure I can get my vaccine cert on time? From what I understand it won’t be active until 7 days after my second jab.

    any advise much appreciated cheers

travelled up to citiwest from limerick (on holidays) for my 2nd jab appointment this morning and my wife came with me hoping they would vaccinate her even though her appointment was tomorrow morning. Jabbed us both, a relief we don’t have to do the 400km round trip again tomorrow!
