Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hamilton to go handy but pass Verstappen around lap 60.

    Called it. :P

VER to box, and then fingers crossed for an immediate safety car.

Seems like business as usual for the rest of the season.

HAM finishing almost 30 seconds ahead of P2.

Hats off to Lewis and Mercedes. Jaysus that huge midfield battle

TBH they had a lot of pace in hand. If ya look at when Verstappen pitted first time around Hamilton was all over his gearbox coming out of the second-last corner, likely would have got Verstappen down the straight. Even just look at how Hamilton closed up after the first stop when he had clear air. Red Bull are flattering to deceive in qualifying, Mercedes still have race pace in hand.

Red Bull have done this to themselves, 100% their own fault, they had a car that could have won the race and they fluffed it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,275 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Potentially dangerous from Stroll on Gasly there

I may as well do something else than watch these races if it'll be completely dominated by Merc for the rest of the year.

Fantastic strategy by the Mercedes team again. Very frustrating the way Redbull let Max down again with poor strategy:(

I feel the same. I dont see myself investing a lot of time in it this year. It already seems to be a foregone conclusion.

Fingers crossed the new cars next year will change it up.

Hopefully Monaco and it’s severe lack of overtaking might help if max can get ahead.

Have red bull poached some Ferrari strategists by mistake, for years they made great decisions, but not so lately

Get in there Lewis. You can't deny the class act Merc pulled today.

Alas, see you next year lads.

They really caught Redbull asleep and they had no answer for it.
Hamilton is a machine really in that car . at least it made it Entertaining .

Excellent drive from Verstappen but the Merc just has far too much pace. No possible way to win in that Red Bull, it was an extraordinary effort to make it look competitive for so long.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,762 ✭✭✭✭Inquitus

Not having a decent 2nd driver is absolutely killing Red Bull this year to date. I love Checho, but he really needs to up his game and make this a 2 v 2 competition not a constant 2 v 1 which gives Mercedes all the extra strategy options.

Once again, thank god for Max Verstappen. Phenomenal drive considering what he was up against. Great start and kept it interesting for a while. Merc had their strategy on point today, but I still feel had Max pitted again after Lewis the Merc was far more comfortable on the mediums.

Looking like a bit of a procession for Lewis 8th title, shame, for a while there it looked like an actual competition might break out.

The second red bull seat has been jinxed for a while now.

It is a track that historically favours Mercedes, so all may not be lost, Monaco will be the same as it has been for the last 30 years whoever qualifies on Pole will win and then we'll get into some real racing at the tracks after that Baku, Canada and France.

I dont think the seat is jinxed. I think it is just that VER is in a different class and is able to really outperform anybody else in the same car.

One lap after Hamilton pitted for 2nd time they should have brought Max in. They had just enough of a window. Once he stayed out 2 laps, the race was decided.

Good point, wherever it will be it won't be Barcelona, and it won't be Monaco, that's got to have something going for it! :)

I haven't the race recorded but I'm pretty sure Hamilton was less than a second behind when he pitted and gained over a second on his out-lap.

Just heard that RB only had softs, so it’s arguable that Lewis would have caught him anyway.

A Donegal fan would say 600 handpasses in a game was interesting too. The rest of the country wouldn’t though

It was because of Max’s start, but there was an air of inevitability about it all

^^^ oh yeah it was definitely one of the more interesting Races , Watch the gap close to the front and then flick to the Alonso DRS train for some other entertainment .

There were some nice battles going on the track . between different groups for most of the race.

If Hungary 2019 hadn't happened then yes. RB caught flatfooted again and had no response in a similar situation - even Horner mentioned it in the radio "this could be Hungary all over again".

More like Dublin wouldn't you think?

As a neutral I found that great fun to follow.
Charles, just sneak over to C4 this could take a while.
