Norway's prime minister and health minister have both admitted that the Delta variant of Covid-19 will probably push back the final step of Norway's reopening plan.

Health Minister Bent Høie has warned that the final step of Norway’s four-step plan to reopen the country and lift coronavirus measures will be pushed back due to concerns over the spread of the Delta coronavirus variant, which was first identified in India.

The next step of Norway’s reopening plan was due to be assessed and potentially announced next week, but now the government will instead focus on making sure Norway doesn’t take a step back, rather than moving forward with the reopening plan.

“Next week will mark three weeks since we moved to step three, but with the uncertainty associated with the Delta variant, my priority will be to avoid taking a step back in the reopening plan, rather than taking a step forward,” Høie told newspaper

Grown ups in charge in Norway too, evidently

You might actually want to know what's in Norway's plan before comparing us to them. They reopened items that aren't close to being opened here back in April. Their next step that they're saying they'll delay is pretty much going back to February 2020 living.

Leaving Cert delivered in full. No more argument needed.

Wrong poster again Finty, I don't have a party allegiance ,just despise FG,

    Why?

'Handling' Pearse would have been countering his points wth the truth as he saw it. Nope, what we got was arrogance and deflection.

Can’t argue with idiots/terrorists - especially when they are shouting at you. Pearse Doherty is a psycho bully who shouts, that is not a good basis for discussion.

The FFG fans are clearly rattled after another disastrous week. Fascinating to witness and easily exposed. The govt are meeting the hospitality sector reps again tomorrow to patronise them further. Many of these businesses will open just to close in early 2022 due to unrecoverable financials.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Varadkar was given his time to answer...he chose to deflect.

Shouting in the Dáil is unusual? Please stop. Does your argument no favours.

Income tax take ahead of target for the first 6 months.
No surprise really given that it's the high earners like me who pay most of it. The grown ups taking responsibility again.

Ye boys may be high earners but pay nothing in income tax despite your vast earnings and assets and never have, thats why ye are all over the place throwing out propaganda for FG/FF in a desperate attempt to keep the gravy train running.

Let the hedge funds buy your farms out and then we will not have to listen to your incessant moaning looking for more free hand outs, because us "adults" dont want to subsidise you anymore with our taxes while you sit on your millionaire assets.

The good days are coming to an end and you know it.

The pharmacists are happy. 18 to 30s being fast tracked.
Leaving Cert done. Good CAP on the way. Tax take up.

Hospitality are doing a good job to press for more of the generous compensation they continue to receive. But a mature approach needed due to Delta. Strange that all the socialists on here are so eager for the greedy capitalist publicans to get their way.

Yep, months and months to plan Green Certs and antigen testing and they only decide to look into them in July. Pathetic.

I'll give you that, Pearse shouting, ranting and foaming at the mouth spouting unbelievable nonsense isn't even a little bit unusual in the Dail.

We are back to last November when Mary-Lou was calling for the pubs to be reopened when the numbers were going the wrong way. Deja vu.

    She should have learned.

Or the leader of FG having a ranty deflectionary, designed for his social media, pop at NPHET, the government ignoring the advice then having to enact it a wet week late? Then we hit 'top of the world' scores for a while as countless got infected and died.

Mary-Lou calling it wrong once was forgiveable, but twice that is stupid.

Seems that Mary-Lou has more in common with the science-denying Tories than we knew.

Our government is working away on getting extra vaccines to vaccinate the population before opening slowly. Well done to them.

    The government DID IT blanch.

Your obsession with equating a 'call' with actually 'doing something' that resulted in unnecessary suffering and death, says it all.

Same as Leo...get called out, deflect deflect deflect.

We can only analyse the opposition based on what they call for. Mary-Lou has got an awful lot wrong throughout the pandemic.

Her problem is the opposition for opposition's sake position that she has continually adopted. When the government are getting the vast majority of things right, she looks stupid and clueless.

They all got stuff wrong and made mistakes. I'm blue in the face saying. The government actually 'did' stuff and are getting called on it here.

But SF SF SF. Leo deflection tactics. Do you all do it?

Yes, the government actually did stuff, and got most of it right. In a pandemic, nobody will get it all right.

Just look at Alan "Zero Covid" Kelly for someone who got it completely wrong. Aren't you so lucky that SF backed away from that pretty quickly?

This thread is about the government and what they are doing. You and others broached no criticism up to this point.

I accept your admission that they didn't get it 'all right'. So maybe show some humility when they are criticised in future.

It’s not an argument. You don’t engage with emotionally unstable people who are incapable of a discussion in a professional format.

Your argument is, deflection is ok.

Many many people, including FGers and FFers have raised their voices in the Dáil.

It is just more bluffing/lying to deny that.

Leo deflected, his fans cheered. Yawn.

February 2021: Irelands whinging opposition "why can't we be more like Australia, they have managed Covid with no lockdowns. Its a disgrace, Joe"

July 2021: "12 million people in lockdown in Australia and only 7% of the population vaccinated. Fears of a huge Delta wave"

July 2021 Irelands whinging opposition "We meant Austria , why can't Ireland be more like Austria? Its a disgrace, Joe."

    Rinse and repeat...

Why do government supporters feel the need to insult opposition? Why do they need to use words like "whinging"? Are the opposition not allowed to oppose or question government decisions?

The demise of the power swap Floppybits has been difficult to cope with for some. There is also a fundamental gap in understanding how proper democracy and accountability works. You will see the same demeaning attitude to the work 'committee's' do in the Dáil.

They simply have never seen a proper opposition doing it's job without fear or favour. And they deeply resent it.

I was referring to the whinging opposition, not the opposition en masse. There is a difference.
