Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I don't have a problem with it being only a penalty. Sure a yellow could have been given, and we've seen it, but I can see why it wasn't given too. There wasn't much in it.

It's been mentioned already, Raynal's positioning on the field at ruck time is very poor.
Nearly bundled over a few times.

Furlong went straight into him at one stage. No idea what he’s at.

Raynal is absolutely useless from positioning to decision making. He bottled that high tackle

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,557 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Maybe do us all a favor and knobble him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,795 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

A swinging forearm him someone in the chin, all this "initial contact" talk is absolutely irrelevant.

I am delighted with that scoreline after the first 14 minutes. Imagine if we hadn't been asleep for that period? This game would be pretty much over. Have to keep that latter-first-half level of concentration for the next 40.

Somewhere bundee aki is scratching his head about what's a legal and an illegal tackle if watching that

That's actually worse, in terms of mitigation within the framework. The tackler completed the table and followed through, which puts it into the higher degree of danger straight away, so it should start as red, with mitigation down to yellow because of the indirect contact to the head.

Indirect contact to the head with the arm starts at a yellow.

I agree with Raynal’s positioning. McGrath needs to throw him the ball a couple of times and he might get the message.

I think we controlled the game expertly after 15 minutes. For the opening 10 Exeter had 90% possession and were dominating. After that our backrow in particular got on top with Conan and VDF showing especially strongly. Been some.excellent carrying and ruck work on show.

Sexton was doing an expert job in kicking in behind and then choosing his moments when to go wide. He caught them narrow on a number of occasions.

We'll need a huge opening 20 minutes of the second half. Exeter will come out strongly and they know.oue defence can become disjointed when the opposition starts accumulating lots of phases.

Exactly. Initial point of contact only comes into it for deciding on mitigation.

"Indirect contact with a high degree of danger will see a yellow card but only a penalty if there is a low degree of danger."

So you can debate the degree of danger but it doesn't start at yellow.

At the top of the page you linked to there's a link to a 2020 update. Direct/indirect is no longer part of determining the starting sanction, no?

Yeah sorry that was poorly phrased on my part - it's a maximum yellow.

Has there ever been a TMO that actually disagreed with a ref? They always roll over from memory.

It is ultimately the ref's call. Plenty of TMOs have questioned refs, but there is ultimately nothing they can do.

    More missed tackles.

    It's a huge problem now.

All from poor missed tackles in midfield.

    Another poor start from Leinster

3 tries from near identical set up. Awful defending from Leinster.

    No TMO check!

Warburton's analysis is second-to-none. Could listen to him all day.

Fardy missed tackle line break initially and Fardy line out melt. 2 inexcusable mistakes. He better make up or be hooked

    Our defence is a shambles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

Why are they so passive in defence. Inexcusable that in both halves they start so slowly

Rory O Loughlin has had a total stinker. That is brainless

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Think that's four linebreaks now that have come from tight five forwards defending in midfield.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,749 ✭✭✭degsie

    For what.

'Cause it standard fare for Leinster tries :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,557 ✭✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Exeter's entire success has been framed around Flaherty making ridiculous breaks.

    Sort it out ffs

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,228 ✭✭✭A-Train

Leinster need to get their heads into this second half.

Can’t afford to let them get up to full steam.

O'Loughlin has been rotten, continuing his performance from the last game.

Raynal actually blocked 2 Exeter players there.

Excellent little play from Leinster. Pulled Exeter out of position and then when their forwards were overloaded on one side we passed back into that mass but they hadn't the legs to track the runner.

Thought Byrne's pass might have been forward tho.

Must have watched Poite diving into a ruck and thought "I can beat that"

Raynal missed the deliberate knock on there.

    Hope the TMO didn't.

Uh oh, he's seen the deliberate knock on

Byrne’s pass was a mile forward.

Raynal won't give this. Wind is going the wrong way in Dublin.
