No one actually said it. People are joining the dots. If you don't have indoor dining open elsewhere, how can it be allowed in hotels?

    There is no dots.

Agree with you completely. My wife is Swedish so I’ve a lot of friends over there and it is nothing like over here. They just get on with things. Irish people are absolutely addicted to misery.

To paraphrase - What is it with using what’s happening in Sweden to justify letting it rip?

One thing for sure this thread is absolutely addicted to misery...

And as for them saying even when they are 100% vaccinated they won't open up ?

This is not just Australia, this seems a genuine trend, and I ask why ...

Do you believe that 1st generation of vaccines will do the trick?

The / Your source is saying they will be open?

    That was an earlier report

Can't remember what show it was on yesterday but definitely point was no hotel indoor dining as well

Will wait and see but that's not any break if hotels can't serve food to guests

Intercounty travel has been rumoured in both June and July, so will hold fire until that gets clarified. July would be crazy, anything passed early/mid June would be.

Why bring it up ? Had nothing to do with the post you replied to and added no value to the conversation.

Ah I see that went straight over the head. No matter.

Florida has as little to do with our situation here as 'India' does. So saying that we should look to 'Florida' but not 'India' is a bit of a double take especially where it is being used as a reason to let it rip.

And whilst I agree it might well be depressing seeing on "Instagram nightclubs in the likes of Miami wide open, no masks and everyone enjoying themselves like it was 2019" - the corally of that is the scenes out of India are truely depressing.

I find it amusing that posters here who one minute are saying we should be doing what the U.K. is doing at the moment, are the next next we should now be opening up pubs and restaurants fully right away.

The U.K. are not even planning on doing that for another 3 weeks. 5 weeks after they allowed outdoor service for pubs and restaurants due to them reaching 50% first dose vaccination, and will only be doing so then if four requirements are fulfilled on vaccine deployment, hospitalisations, case numbers and ICU number changes due to variants.

Outdoor summer is fine if the weather is good but this is Ireland. It's a big gamble on the entire hospitality industry. Its grand though the tax payer will prop it up with a few billion if the weather is ****!

But again, why are you getting annoyed over a hypothetical?

Hypothetical situations have been the go to response from government from the beginning. I can understand how that has rubbed off on other people at this stage.

Oh absolutely, but we won't be at that level of vaccinations until end June/early July, and thats if supply is maintained.

I mean if they open hotels and tell them indoor dining is safe and also say indoor dining is unsafe in restaurants outside a hotel, they're bigger idiots than I thought.

But sure 1000s of work canteens across the country are operating each day.

Yet its unsafe for indoor eating.

They have no idea how to manage this.

If I was in Ireland though all these lockdowns I probably eat my gun, I just wouldn't live like that. I would rather sacrifice 2 weeks in sun than spend 5-6 months living like a rat, its an absolute no brainer.

A lot of us would. If we'd known in March 2020 what we were facing into and the level of lockdowns we'd have to take here in Ireland.

Trouble is, these things creep... and 6 weeks more of lockdown, or just another few weeks of Level 5 and then in 6 weeks more we'll open a hotel (which then gets delayed a further 2).

Its hard. It sucks. We don't really have another (sensible) choice. We're jaded, but being jaded won't change anything. Just gotta weather it through.

Take the source how you wish

"However, the reopening of hotels, which would include bar and restaurant service for guests, could pose problems for the Government if other pubs and restaurants remain closed

Regular indoor dining will most likely not be reopening in June in these outlets, which could lead many to protest against the favouritism being shown to the hotel industry.

Elsewhere, it is expected that outdoor dining will return sometime between the end of May and the middle of June."

The article states that hotels will open with bar and restaurant service for guests in June. That's a good thing surely?

India a few weeks ago was low case numbers and lower levels of vaccination than the U.K. or Israel for partial opening up, but they were happy to open up virtually everything.
Ireland low case numbers and lower levels of vaccination than the U.K or Israel when opening partially and people on here want to open everything right away yet you do not see where a comparison could be made ?

The deadly pandemic, where I don't know a single person that died of it. I know plenty of elderly people though who are heartbroken that they have barely seen their children, grand children and great grand children for over a year.
