Go into tvs above 64 inch and sort by price. Cheapest first.

I tried to buy it but keeps bringing me back to homepage.

Well spotted though to the OP
239 euro save nearly 2.5k lol.

It would be some deal alright but little chance. Only problem is I have no where to put such a large TV.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,082 ✭✭✭bigtimecharlie

Same as that, ordered over an hour ago. About .01% of it being honoured but sure worth a punt on the credit card.

    Same

By posting it here or elsewhere you immediately scupper any initial vague chance of it being honored.

One or two at a misprice could slip through. Bulk orders ensures that every single order is cancelled.

Did anyone get a confirmation email?

Whats the law on this sort of thing. Has it to be honoured?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,898 ✭✭✭KOR101

Never happen lads had same thing with arnotts last year. They catch this stuff prior to dispatch. One can dream though :)

Funny how I feel there is little chance of getting this yet every time I play the lotto I'm convinced I'm going to win.

From what I know with getting things from curry's uk online is that the point of purchase is when they dispatch the items. I doubt anyone will get this tv and have their money locked away for several weeks until it is return.

Best of luck to those who ordered, but I wouldn't be jumping for joy just yet.

They have no obligation in law to complete a purchase

Under Irish law they have to prove its a mistake I think (unless I am reading this wrong)!

    https://www.eccireland.ie/ecc-ireland-pricing-error-rights/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166 ✭✭AndyOHart

If any of yas wanna look up the legal side of it: https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/law-topic/consumers/unfair-commercial-practices-law/unfair-commercial-practices-directive_en

I think main point is "However, if there is a genuine mistake on the part of the trader to display the correct price, the trader can claim that there is a defect in consent and the contract may be set aside, especially if the consumer should reasonably have known that the price displayed was the result of an error. This may well be an obvious, rare mistake, quickly acknowledged and rectified and, therefore, the consumer may not be entitled to benefit from the error. On the other hand, if the consumer has ordered in good faith, unaware of any error, he/she could look for arrangements, particularly may seek to enforce performance of the contract or even compensation (e.g. damages) when the actual loss can be accredited."

So who knows if you were to argue with them what would happen.

I bought one too. took money, no confirmation email. For every person that posts they bought one on here there might be a couple more that wont post. It could be a lot of orders

    Absolutely not.

I'd imagine there are a few hundred orders for this and they'll all be cancelled down in a batch.

The fact that no one has received a confirmation email would suggest there's a manual step involved where someone needs to accept the order before fulfillment.

It's an interesting one for sure though!

Are you saying they couldn't prove a TV at 10% of its retail price isn't a pricing error? And what idiot is going to take it to the ombudsman anyway?

Online sale laws are different, there is no obligation to honor a genuine mistake in price afaik.

Most large retailers with online sales also have checks built into their order management software system to validate the price before the final stage of dispatching these days. Very unlikely it would go through irrespective of how many customers tried it or not, depends on the business though and what level of price validation they have if any. I'd be very surprised if Currys didn't have those safeguards in place.

Horse. I had the same with arnotts last year.

It got absolutely no where even spoke to consumer rights. Unless you've deep pockets for a solicitor your getting nothing and then what money have you saved....

It ain't happening. That's the reality.

Haha, I'm "Salty" that I did , but no chance of it being honoured now that it was on boards.ie, thanks OP:D

I would have bought this, but the cost of enlarging my house would have undone the saving.

No. It will be in t and cs that they don't have to honor mistakes.

They're not meant to charge you until the item ships either so it makes it even easier for them to just cancel your order.

There's no hope of getting this honored. It was posted to Beady Eye Bargains on Facebook and had 400+ comments tagging other people so there could be well over 1000 orders gone in.

If Curry's took the hit that'd be over €2m in lost sales. No chance now.
