I paid and got no email either way.

Horse. I had the same with arnotts last year.

It got absolutely no where even spoke to consumer rights. Unless you've deep pockets for a solicitor your getting nothing and then what money have you saved....

It ain't happening. That's the reality.

No solicitor with an iota of sense would tell you anything else except you have no right whatever to a pricing error.

Doesn't matter how deep your pocket is, it will still be no, no, no and no again.

They're not meant to charge you until the item ships either so it makes it even easier for them to just cancel your order.

I don't know where this comes from either.

    This is simply not true.

Thank god for that, imagine a world in that a genuine error ruins you as a company. Anyone that's genuine upset about not getting this deal and go and get ****ed

But I was hoping that some Curry's employees would end up unemployed so that I got a TV that I don't need. :(

Don't think anyone on here is particularly upset tbh, most just saw it as a risk-free gamble really.

Some people love to jump on another's honest mistake just to make gains. To what end? Just because they think they can!

risk free to themselves - not caring one bit that the employee who made a mistake could lose their job over it

No doubt the same people who say we should avoid the likes of Amazon and "buy Irish" whenever we can.

    Except Curry's. **** 'em apparently.

Someone mentioned consumer rights and solicitor pricing on another item. Do even think of things like that is a bit of a bug bearer with me.
Worked in retail a long time ago and the whole "you have to honor the advertised price" came up a lot, generally little old dears with nothing better to do but hang some teenager a little too quick with a pricing gun

Amazon charge when shipping. I'd imagine that is where they got it from. Obviously you are correct & the vast majority of stores charge at the time of purchase

Someone went to the trouble of starting a thread on legal or consumer forum in the hope of forcing them to honour the mistake.

I don't get why people publicise these obvious misprices. The only chance it gets dispatched is if it flies under the radar.

An item that suddenly becomes hot and goes out of stock, in the middle of March for no reason is going to raise an internal flag.

Yes, Amazon and some very large retailers do it because they hold all your card details and have the very expensive infrastructure to do so.

The vast majority of online retailers use payment gateways and funds are deducted the second you approve the purchase though its the next day (or Monday for Fri-sun purchases) before the retail store itself has the payment.

They will be laughing about it in the head office boardroom.

Probably did it on purpose. Website traffic surely got a lovely boost with plenty of people buying something anyway

I think it could be sneakier than that.....not saying they are doing this but....

Year end accounts for uk companies is 31mar. If a company have your cash for a couple of weeks (2m somebody else said) it would improve optics of a company's bank balances at year end/quarter end. May even be a factor in not breaching loan covenants too.

Hard to prove it's a deliberate thing....but if it were then it's serious shady stuff!

They should honour the first 10 orders . Considering the amount of advertising and web traffic.

Would get positive publicity for "owning their mistake " or some other corporate word speak catchphrase

    Win win

    Well done Sherlock.

A company with a turnover of £2.5 billion is going to take in €2 million and then refund it 10-14 days before the end of the month.
