Could do with there being a few more sites, and less "open" sites.

There's feck all grid capacity in Cork which is probably why the SUC site isn't up and running.

If you filter on plugshare for chargers over 50kW, all you'll find on the northside of Cork City is the circle k chargers on the mallow road and an upcoming charger at the Applegreen site in Ballyvolane. A damning indictment when you consider there's easily 100k living in the city and suburbs north of the river.

Major upgrades to the local grid are badly needed. We can only hope that when the new interconnector from France goes live it will help.

Yes. i was there few days ago. Interesting just an ID3 was charging but the car was saying they are only 6 chargers available. @zg3409 in the new charger thread you're saying there are 12 chargers. They are just 8.

    8 Superchargers + 4 ESB chargers.

He’s counting the site as a whole.

It's a shared stall site so pick a stall with both A+B free and if someone tries to charge next to you with available pair elsewhere just explain to them to move

Actually the plugshare entry says 8 Tesla chargers, but 16 plugs. I can't fix this as it's locked by Tesla. It may go back to Tesla CCS cables and non CCS Cables for likes of Model S, so two cables per pillar at one point or still. I know plugshare app does not handle Tesla CCS well in terms of various plugs and Tesla only, and tethered Tesla destination chargers. It's a USA app so not ideal for European quirks.

39c between 10pm and 8am though is pretty good value

probably reflective of high demand. It's one of the things I do like about Tesla vs other providers.

Yeah that's decent. But it's a fair jump from the recent days of 42 - 44 cents.

I like that they have decent off-peak rates, really opens up EV ownership to people living nearby without a driveway. Basic rule of thumb of 3:1 makes 39c/kWh the equivalent of €1.17/L betwen 10pm and 8am

for those of you/us with Tesla credits, you have to manually select it under the new system to be your preferred payment method, go the charging/select payment and you'll see a drop down to select Tesla credits as first priority

Hi, what is the story with the Sandyford charge points?

OH went there today in Kona, just to test out Tesla charging in her Kona; only one free space, but 6 free spaces showing on the app? All Teslas that were plugged into the other charge points, and kona was only pulling 43Kw.. Guy in a Tesla was waiting to get charging, and someone from service centre came and said they were moving one car from a charger but were going to put another charging in its place; yer man that was waiting objected and she just unplugged the car and left it there, saying they weren't public chargers but for the service centre? (She did come back and move the car, because 'she was in a good mood' !)

They have AC chargers too in the shop so can charge at 11kW which is quite decent over a few hours, no need to hog a SuC with basic planning

That's interesting because they actually are public chargers, if they weren't they wouldn't be on the app, more bad customer service from Tesla methinks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,567 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Sounds like it. The AC chargers are on the other side of the showroom.

The V4 stalls are shared so if all are occupied the charging rates fall quite low. You kinda get the feeling they don't really want folk charging there at all, which makes the decision to open up to non-Teslas a bit hard to fathom.

Realistically they should have moved the V2s from Balacolla to Sandyford and replaced Balacolla with V4s. Install 4 of the V2s around the back of the showroom if they want non-public ones as well

Was in Castlebellingham (Northbound) on Friday. Not one tesla at SUC, are these powered off? If not why are they not opened up to other EVs like other SUCs around the country?

How long were you there for? Tesla’s can arrive, plug in and be gone minutes later…. (My last charging stop in Castlebellingham lasted 3.5 minutes..)

They were to be booted out of Castlebellingham as Applegreen are doing their own charging network now, but did a deal last minute to remain onsite (here & Birdhill). Presumably a stipulation in that deal was not opening those particular superchargers to non Tesla’s

Juniper charging from empty to 80% on Ionity and Supercharger. 4.6 kWh more in 2 minutes less. If you are dissatisfied with Tesla network there are alternatives.

This is a screenshot from a YouTube video.

Ah OK, stayed for about 20mins sat outside with a coffee.. Was surprised no tesla charging but then again it was midday.. I'd say busier on Friday afternoons.

I stop there a fair bit, I don't precondition so I can enjoy a bit of a breakfast break, rarely see it packed.

Used it and Sprucefield last week, Sprucefield was much more in use

Stopped at Johnstown house in my ID.4 yesterday for a top up, definitely going to be my go to location from now on

Went straight to 136kW at 16% after I plugged in and by the time I'd walked to the house and ordered a coffee I was over 20%

I actually overshot the amount I needed while waiting for the coffee

Much nicer location than some sh!thole petrol station with a Supermacs (looking at you Kinnegad)

Location wasn't busy either so I didn't anger any Tesla owners by blocking a charger 😉

1D at Mahon point in Cork may be out of service soon (reported in app). All 4 bays in use at 10am.on a Sunday (shopping centre opens at 11am)

Just back from a round trip to Cork from Kildare and stopped at the M8/M7 interchange location.

The ESB chargers are bloody tight and had a few cars trying to skip the line. All Tesla chargers were free at the other end of the site but didn’t realise I could use them in a non-Tesla…

My ignorance! Tesla app needed or can you tap and go like the others?

Assuming you’re talking about Ballacolla/Manorstone, they’re not open to non Teslas yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,188 ✭✭✭innrain

They are. You need your Tesla App. Ballacola currently is 56c/66c per kWh without membership and 42c/49 per kWh with (10quid /month)

Tesla app, had to set up bank card details etc, took me a while. Typically cheaper than most providers. Can be fast if your car can take it. Not all sites are open to non Teslas.
