    It sounds nicer tbh.
My mum was a boarder and the nuns used to batter them.

My dad was a boarder and got expelled. His croime. He was starving and raided the fridge in the middle of the night. He was paying for the privilege. All these with their hands out. Any payouts should have rates of board at the time paid by the state deducted.:(

When my mother was giving birth, she said that in one of the neighbouring beds the husband was in roidin his wife in de bed a day after she gave birth. Much jolting of de bed springs behind de curtains.

Seems her mother had sanity issues

Where was the girls dad? 17yrs of age and sending her to that place.

sounds like a grand spot in fairness, apart obviousely, that they took her baby from her.

Joe is trying very to prove everything in the report is wrong?
He kept asking that woman about ‘forced’ adoption and she obviously doesn’t want to talk about it.

New technique from joe today? Drew the misery out of the first caller for a while, little break now for her while joe bashes all the charts that he cant understand before going back to hear about the first callers mother

Mental health klaxon.. absolves everything. Don’t think she was there when the daughter was ridin.

He was probably at his wits' end, with an insane wife at home and a daughter needing care, and didn't know what best to do except let the nuns in a better type of place come to their aid. I think it was more than "respectability" at stake here, but practicality.

    Complaints? Is he serious?

They were abusing kids for sport and Joe thinks they had a complaints procedure in place.

They probably had a complaints procedure in fairness, the same as RTEs one - the complaints inbox = the bin.

I know a family that have fostered children for years. The have always been inspected on a regular basis.
    I don’t believe this caller.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,466 ✭✭✭jetfiremuck

John...I understand, however you had a place, others would have given their eye teeth to take your place. At least you made it through.

This was a long time ago in fairness.
I seriously doubt there were the same processes in place.
