Brother trotted off to school and you could tell he was excited to see his friends. I'm delighted for him tbh.

Lovely to see them all heading back today, delighted is right. Expecting tired children this week but good for them.

Now to wait for 12th of April for the rest!

After the huffing and puffing because he’s the only one leaving the house last night he bolted out the door this morning only delighted to be seeing his friends and teacher.
Fingers crossed transmission stays low enough for school to stay open .

We all know nothing has changed. Actually that is a lie. The DES now don't want all the windows open in the classroom during class time so actually things are now worse than they were before Christmas.

    Where have they said that?

This is the second time in the last few days in this thread a poster claiming they've said one thing when in fact I've read documents from schools stating the opposite.

it is great to see the kids back, lets just pray the numbers keep dropping.

Id say educators will be lucky to be vaccinated before next Christmas the way things are going.

isnt it in the document that while classes are happening windows should only be half open? then fully open if no class in session.

A bit different alright to the poster's claim that they don't want all windows open. Bizarre the number of people thanking that post too.

The other was that they asked students not to bring hand sanitiser.

but they dont want all windows open if they are only half open.

I think it's all abit irrelevant now regarding windows open/closed etc (as I pointed out in a previous post a son of mine teaches in a secondary school in a room with no windows/just door open) the Government is not going to shut the schools again ....not going to bother re: further health/safety conditions in schools....they have the majority of the children back and the unions have gone asleep......

saying what? the only half open windows if classes are in the room, its in whatever return to school document that came out lately, and i am certainly not going looking for it :D

Well yeah, exactly where did they set criteria as to when, by how much and how many windows should be open in a class. It seems oddly specific given there's different sized classrooms, windows and the number of windows per room.

Go find it yourself! Its a document that all was sent to schools. Windows open fully when no class in room and then half closed when class is on. that's it.

The guidelines about windows are in this document. I don't think there were more recent guidelines issued.

I'm not looking for something that I don't even know exists. But for all the people claiming it does, it shouldn't be that hard as it'll be in their recent history.

History Queen was kind enough to post the one from November, which posters are saying has changed with guiudelines to the contrary.

Windows are open in our kids school and the teacher sprays their hands as they enter.

They never opened all the windows or the door.

the current (only ones ever given if im not mistaken) guidlines regarding windows are in that document, partially opened while classes are in and fully while not, i dont know what else you want? windows are not fully opened while school is in session and thats a 100% fact

I could stand corrected on that. There has been a lot of guidance issued so I can't swear that there wasn't updated guidance on windows. To be fair though, the guidance I posted is wordy but can essentially be summed up as "open windows except when you can't ". It's really not that useful, much like most guidance issued to schools in the last 12 months.

up until November all windows could be opened fully if the teacher/principal wanted, thats not the case anymore.

I think you're right though, the doc you posted is the one linked to from the back to school website.

"open windows except when you can't " I think is a fair summation.

Not "open windows, except leave at least one closed, we don't want all windows open", as some are claiming.

The Dept did advise that primary school students not bring hand sanatiser

Where are the instructions to schools that this is no longer allowable?

Primary schools are still asking parents to ensure their kids bring them though.

Just noticed this now. Your link was to weekly reports ending March 6th. I was asking about the increase in cases noted last week.

They don't want all the windows open while students are in class and it is cold. I don't know who you are arguing with, but it is true that we have been advised to avoid having all windows open while teaching due to the cold.

Some may well be, but the Dept advice was to the contrary.

literally in the document provided a few short posts back, wtf :pac: windows partially opened does not equal all windows opened

Fair enough if you don’t want to go looking but why expect others to. Guidance was updated re windows - to be fully open when children not in class - pre post school and or yard times. To be partially opened when children in class and no need to have all windows open. How do I know - -LWR in school. Believe it or not - up to you .

I'm arguing that some people are taking it as an instruction from DES not to open all windows which will have an affect on Covid19 within the class.

Nothing more than that. Common sense, and what has been done up until now, is that's it's being done to suit the class and weather.

Pretty logical asking others who've read it to show where they read it. Nothing off the wall about it.

No, there's nothing in the document saying you are not to open all the windows. WTF indeed pacman.

Guidance / circulars from DES are instructions.
