I'm going to let you into a little secret, many teachers are parents.

Where did I say I they were not?

This has to be a parody? Parents juggling full time jobs, childcare, home schooling, etc and you are complaining about bags under your eyes!

    Welcome to the real world.

Maybe ask your almighty union to add eye cream to your list of demands

Do you have anything of actual value to add to the thread, or is your only contribution to just come in and criticise someone's human need to get support in rough times. Horrible post.

What exactly is your point here?
Where did I say these parents were not teachers?

Get off your high horse. I pointed out that one teacher was looking for sympathy for bags under their eyes and you say I hate all teachers.

I think welcoming them to the real world is what tipped me off (I'm not a teacher btw, I wouldn't do it for all the money in the world)

Oh, and the mention of the 'almighty union'

Argue semantics all you like, its pretty clear what the tone of your post was.

    Weeks?

    Jeez that's bleak

Michael Lehane RTE saying that schools won't be fully open before Paddy's Day.

Paddy’s day? Wow. That is far far longer than I expected to be honest. Norma must have been overridden?

I await her being shuffled sideways. Surely she cannot continue if what is being leaked is what is being considered. After her various stunts then her role is untenable.

Yes, but everytime I try to link Twitter on a post here it doesn't work for me. Sorry!

    Apologies Miss/Sir.

I have had an awful day yesterday after looking at my screen for a whole 2 hours straight. My eyes are sore, my lips are dry and I’m a bit tetchy. All I want is some free lip balm, eye cream...........and to be moved to the top of the vaccine queue.

You would have to wonder what information have they now got that the message is now being fed out that schools won't be fully back until near Easter.

Theyll probably reopen SEN 1st Feb, it is either safe or not safe. Fing ridiculous

Norma's only objective is the have accomplished something as a first term TD. It's a shame she was elevated to minister, becuase that means the accomplishment is dependant on schools accessibilty.

Norma is out of her depth. She resembles the captain of the Titanic. Iceberg, what iceberg?

They're not going to give up on the LC. I still think they'll push for LCs and SEN on Feb 1.

Students Union is starting to kick up and if it goes the way of last year, they'll be successful.

And why wouldn't they, get LC cancelled and have another year of record results. Its a no-brainer for LCs to be honest.

My 5th years are looking on horrified as they think they will be competing with two years of record results by the time they get around to doing it.

Many courses jumped on points required this year.

Be interesting to see how it plays out.

I'd be very surprised if schools reopen before 1st March. Probably middle of March to be honest.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the UK Variant being more transmissible and potentially resulting in more fatalities?
MM was apparently talking to Boris yesterday on it.

And also the slowdown on supplies of the Vaccine in the EU.

Saw that alright, fairly sad if you have to be educated by that clown.

To clarify, with your children unable to leave their homes in any meaningful manner you want to deprive them of any external stimulus for the next two months. Then, when it is safe to resume normal socialisation, you want to deprive them of their first opportunity to enjoy life in nearly eighteen months and send them back to school. What do your children think of your suggestion?

I await Tony and Co saying at the presser on Monday that they have no information on that and throwing shade on the UK research. Then the inevitable slight row back on that stance a further 3/4weeks down the line. That has been the pattern.

    I wasn’t expecting that tbh
Kind of worrying for a lot of reasons

Wonder is the 60% reduction in production of the EU Astra vaccine, feeding into this stretching out of the return to school?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 968 ✭✭✭Str8outtaWuhan

Radical idea here. Move secondary holidays to July/august/sept, move primary holidays to August sept. All kids get extra months education during good weather and tourist industry get a longer boost in sept when hopefully vaccines allow level 1/2. LC can easily take place in July, JC in august and both can be corrected by time schools / colleges start in Oct???

Blended learning here we come so
I expect teachers will be back in the classroom after mid term and year groups will rotate in and out on a bi weekly basis with the exception of leaving certs
Teachers will teach all classes from their classrooms whether they are remote or in person . S and s Rotas will operate as normal to cover absences
No other way I can see it working
