If it is a pisstake it is a pisstake that andy kaufman would be in awe of. in other words, it isn't.

Yeah, there's a point where we can all have laugh at the winguts, but if they're advocating overthrowing the government and making multiparty democracy illegal, it's plain treason now. They'll have the Garda investigating them as seditionist before they know it.

The "no mobile phones for under 18s" does cause a wry smile though, it's utterly incongruous and daft among the sobering treason.

We have to know what these people are doing - there is no point putting our heads in the sand and hoping they go away - they won't.

They may be fringe lunatics now, but the National Front in France started that way, as did Trump and his fanatics, as did the Brexit movement. This idea that JW, GOD and all the other nuts will just disappear if we ignore them is fantasy.

Which is why I didn't say to ignore them. There's a wide gulf between keeping a watching brief on dangerous fascists, on the one hand, and actively spreading their poison and publicising them, on the other.

Tbh, it's pretty much impossible for Gemma to gain long term supporters because she always ends up falling out with everyone. She had a gang of 25 odd following her around last summer but she now calls them "plants"

My sister just sent me the video on WhatsApp I asked her was it a deep fake, can't believe it's real. It must be a hard life been so parodied and delusional all the time, almost of feel sorry for them but then I remember how they hounded a Garda to he death

If you stop watching them they will change. Once they can see people are watching they will continue to make this rubbish.

Its hilarious though. Watch this. Watch all of it. It getsmore mental with every passing second.

Yes, (and Waters) want to be fascist leaders of Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,747 ✭✭✭fisgon

Showing or telling people what these two are saying is not actively spreading their poison or publicising them - it is all about context. You can share it without promoting them.

You have to treat people as adults - if someone who has a certain small following, like GOD, is actively planning a coup, then that is something the wider public should know about and see with their own eyes. The effect of seeing these two sitting there, speaking into a camera actually advocating a fascist takeover of our country has an effect that you cannot get from someone just telling you about it.

Yes. I'm all for depriving extremists the oxygen of social media, but I'd never call this thread as facilitating them either. Quite the opposite really, as seen by only the occasional visitor proclaiming kinship with their views.

So fascism, then. As was obvious from day one only they're now admitting it.

Certainly not knowingly. Nobody ever realises they're the bad guy in their own story, so I'm presuming Waters & O'Doherty see themselves as mere patriots. Martyrs even (albeit without the messy need for self-sacrifice). O'Doherty I've just worried some form of paranoid, mental breakdown as explanation - it's Waters I'd be most intrigued about. He was always a contrarian - bit of a gobshíte TBH - but this dip into full-blown fascism is curious.

When you head off the reservation into extremes, there's only one way to go. I'm old enough to remember the days of this lot moaning about being called fascists and that diluting the meaning of the word served nobody's interests. In that clip, he just comes across like a Ken doll for some sort of Nazi Barbie.

That's the vid I quoted above. It is absolutely chilling, the relaxed way that they talk about a dictatorship. I think that watching the video makes my point; it is so much more bonkers and impactful when you actually see and hear two human beings uttering these words, rather than just reading them on a page.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,861 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

I don't think its chilling. I spat my tea out laughing. Shes a clown for our amusement.

They remind me of that weird couple who appeared on the Late Late with Gaybo in the early 90s giving out about the Lovers Guide video, only ten times creepier.

Mental cases, the pair of them.

Equal parts hilarious and scary, pair of bona-fide nutcases.

Scary part is some people actually believe and support them.

    Unfortunately, that is not true.

They certainly don't have a lot of support, but they do have some loyal minions and there are quite a few people out there who might sympathise with parts of their platform - anti-vaxxers, anti-immigrant campaigners, people in Achill and Ballinamore and other places who didn't want asylum seekers in their towns, fundamentalist Catholics, that disaffected part of the population that sees everyone else as a threat and see themselves as a victim. They appeal to the Trump-supporter mentality, and we know there are tens of millions of them in the US.

That's priceless! From what the wife was saying, I'd say Brendan might need some pointers from the Lovers' Guide; it doesn't sound like they're lighting things up between the sheets. 😀

She has failed at every turn when asked for public - real public - support. Dont confuse idiots on Twitter and Facebook with real life.

When she was outside Google it was the same pathetic 6 or 7 cretins there every day. And this was when she was still on Twitter and had a voice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,927 ✭✭✭✭ohnonotgmail

to be fair she generally turns on anybody who does support her

I had a 4 page pamphlet dropped in my letterbox yesterday about all this nonsense. The Great Reset, NWO, secularism being evil, we must choose God etc...

Had a walk around the area but couldn't find who'd dropped it in. Anyone else get this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,940 ✭✭✭Grab All Association

Your area isn’t Nenagh by any chance? I can tell you who the person is there.

He claims Disability Allowance (genuinely) yet calls the young people working in the Baristas spongers

Believes the shite coming out of America and thinks the HSE is euthanising people. Calls Ireland and the EU communist.

edit: you’ll find a lot of these people are on Disability Allowance. Vulnerable types

I watched a recent vid of G+J where they played back a Joe Duffy researcher leaving a message on John's phone where she enquires about a leaflet drop in Waterford that purported to be by ACI.

The researcher (or "Journaliar" as Gem called her) fairly loaded the question saying that this bizarre pamphlet with whacky statements was headed "ACI" and would John like to come on the show and say that the party he's affiliated with (ACI) has nothing to do with this pamphlet. I'm paraphrasing here.

J+G then went on a fairly confusing rant where they neither denied or accepted that the pamphlet was indeed theirs.

    Are you in Waterford caller?
