I don't need help I am replying to people who are implying a poster is lying about not being able to get a delivery because there were no slots.

Fairly obvious some people want everyone to stay home but want to go out themselves even though they consider themselves vulnerable. Have a pensioner aunt (whom I don’t see) says she is far happier now that everyone is stuck in like her, she doesn’t feel she is missing out anymore. She forgets she had her youth and her travels.

Noone ever claimed what your post says.

    What a load of nonsense.

They did and what's nonsense is trying to gaslight it now.

I'm not even replying to the comment. It was the government narrative all along. Schools are controlled environments. Viruses don't spread. Strange that vomiting bugs, chicken pox, hand, foot and mouth as well as numerous other viruses spread like wildfire when they get in to q a classroom but covid wouldn't. They haven't been acknowledging 95% of spread from schools and have different rules for contact tracing compared to the general population since we opened in September! Cases in schools have exploded over the last 3 weeks in line with the increased numbers in the community. But don't let the facts get in the of the government narrative.

There has been outbreaks and covid in schools since they went back and the government and NHPET have been clear with the figures.

Are you telling me what I just said isn't true?

Can you link where they said covid isn't in schools and won't be?

Thanks I'm waiting nearly an hour now for others, so maybe you could oblige.

    Links?

    How about some quotes?

The actual narrative is that schools are not a comparivtively high risk environment and keeping schools open is an acceptable risk for the dangers they pose.

Schools can't contain headlice and they are going to stop CovID from spreading.
In Louth yesterday there was an increase of 49 cases of CovID I would love to know how many came from schools. Over the last week there has been cases in 5 schools in the area.

You won't get any because NHPET and the government never said it.

I remember listening to some lady from NPHET being interviewed by RTE. Started off saying covid doesn't spread in schools, doesn't spread from student to student, doesn't spread from student to teacher and doesn't spread from teacher to teacher!
The media have a lot to answer for as well for failing to ask any questions.

Yeah of course you remember that even though it never happened.

Once again noone claimed schools stop covid from spreading.

Wow some people really don't listen and inform themselves before engaging their brains on the Internet.

You're the one making this claim.

You need to back it up.

If NHPET and the government claim covid isn't in schools and won't spread there should be many links to show them saying it.

    So I'm still awaiting.

No, no you're making the claim that I'm a liar. You back it up.

Im backing it up with the way there is no links or evidence anywhere that some woman from NHPET. said the things you claimed.

The fact I can't find the quotes and you can't show any links pretty much settles that.

I'm referring to you saying the radio interview I mentioned was made up. You can't call someone a liar like that with no proof.

I assume another reason for government keeping schools open is that if they all close who's looking after the kids if their parents are still working? That's a lot of force majeur...

    Not calling you a liar.

You probably heard it wrong or thought you heard it.

My cousin is a teacher who had symptoms and went thing the process doe of getting a test.

She was nearly 2 days waiting for the test and close to 2 days waiting for a result, she was isolating at this stage, the weekend before Christmas.

When asked where she could have co tracked the virus she explained how she had been isolating since finishing school on the Friday as she didn’t feel well and had literally only being nowhere other than the school and home over the few days before and nowhere since.

The reply was “well that’s nearly 4 days ago now so we can’t say for definite it was the school so we will just put down community transmission”

She questioned them quite firmly explaining she had not been anywhere else etc it could only be the school and she had concerns for others in the school only to be told it was community transmission and that’s it but if she had concerns she should perhaps inform other teachers and the principal.

So quite easy to keep cases low in certain areas when you fail to acknowledge them I suppose!

She’s fine now, bit annoyed to be locked down over Christmas but symptoms weren’t bad for here so she’s lucky.

Re online grocery shopping, I know you have to pay for delivery, but it's so worth it in many ways.

Just logged on to Super Valu a little while ago and got a slot for tomorrow, that's handy, wasn't expecting that! Haven't been inside a shop for months and feel all the better for it in my pocket too, not impulse buying etc. We have always used our local franchised SV so it's the same things every time and we like the grub from there, and handily enough SV show you your usually bought items for delivery so ordering only takes about five minutes.

Might throw in a few bottles of grog now too while I have the chance. The only time I will be going near a shopping centre is to use the bottle bank.

    Each to their own.

Absolutely great choice. If everyone who is or feels vulnerable made this decision the rest of us could have a lot less restrictions placed upon us. Good to see someone who talks the talk walking the walk!

Ah, so you want them to sacrifice everything so that you can go do what you want?
What if they work in a shop or drive a bus?

Well they want me and others to sacrifice everything for their health. What has their line of work got to do with anything if they are that afraid they should be entitled to the pup.

Well the government is loath to close the schools. It's the only thing they claim they got right. If the schools close, they basically got nothing right and they won't admit that.

Can't see how they can remain open myself. But they'll persevere with it rather than look incompetent.

I'd say it's more likely the problem is that once schools and creches close even those who can work from home are severely impacted.

    Sacrifice "everything"?
    Over dramatise much?

Their line of work impacts where they work and hence the people they interact with, very hard to fell timber in your sitting room for example.

What's the incubation period for covid? Is it 4 days or more like 14?

People in the UK can claim the furlough payment if they cannot work from and are classed as vulnerable from covid. If they can't work WFH and are vulnerable they should be able to claim the pup here is what I am saying. New people are brought into these jobs to replace them if there's a shortage.

3-5 days that why they are now testing close contacts twice first as soon as possible after confirmation of bring a close contact and again after 5 day to pick up the vast majority of close contact infection
