    Hello

It's time for the annual Christmas Thread

It's just a bit of fun, bit of chat - it's really a replacement bus service for while the Late Late Show thread is off air

What have you seen in the schedules?
    Is Willy Wonka On?
Why are the selection boxes smaller this year?
Why is the All Ireland Final on at Christmas?

I know none of the answers but the door is open

PS Also worth keeping an eye on the 'Recommended Movies On TV' Thread which is here https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054919249

You can almost write some of the jokes that will be in the Mrs Browns Boys special

'Winne will say something stupid about masks' etc

    Nice one, Skid.

I flippin love that Gaybo making the cake clip.

As for schedules someone (I'm sorry, I can't remember who!) said in the Late Late thread a few weeks ago that Die Hard was only on Sky this year.

I can confirm from using my eyes and this RTE guide that that appears to be true.

    Boooooooooooo!

Seems Elf is only on sky one Sunday at 7pm

    When's the Blues Brothers on?

Or, more honestly, what day is the Blues Brothers on at around midnight, so me and my cans of Guinness can do our annual thing?

Erm, no easy way to say this ... it appears the Blues Brothers has gone to the same place as Die Hard

Sky feckers have hoovered everything up

Might be worth looking at the NowTV movie offers (although it's not the same)

Haven't seen RTE's schedule, presuming it's wall to wall Back to the Future and Harry Potter again.

Blues Brother is often on ITV4

    Aw, flip sake.

You're dead right, that just ain't the same.

    Fine. Christmas is cancelled. Cancelled.
    Don't care.

How well do you know Die Hard?
    Celebrity Mastermind - BBC One - Wednesday 30th December 2020 6.30pm

Famous faces Scarlett Moffatt, Matt Everitt, Lucrezia Millarini and Stephen K Amos are put to the test by John Humphrys in a special champion of champions edition of the quiz, answering questions on the specialist subjects of The Sitcom Bottom, Glastonbury Festival, Die Hard and Fela Kuti.

Die Hard 2 is on ITV4 on Wednesday 6th January.

Just found this deleted scene on yootoobs, which explains where Elwood gets the glue from...

It’s a bit disorientating seeing Elwood without his sunglasses, probably why it was left on the cutting room floor.

I like what you’ve done with the place, Skid! :D

And a scented Christmas candle too..nice touch :)

Tonight on BBC One at 9.20pm - Idris Elba chats to some long-forgotten 60’s musician about his new audio platter.

    Cheers Welshie lad

I see the same fella has a gig on Christmas Night on BBC1, I don't remember seeing this before. I might tape it.

    Christmas Day
    BBC1 11.45pm
Paul McCartney At The Cavern Club
The former Beatle's barnstorming 2018 performance at Liverpool's Cavern Club, where his career with the band started out. Around 250 people crammed into the sweaty venue to hear the 28-song set featuring classics he performed when the Beatles started out in the early 1960s, plus songs from his then-new solo album, Egypt Station

From the parts that I’ve heard, ‘McCartney III’ sounds pretty decent.

Guitar music is on the way out, Mr. Elba.

I think Paul’s been doing this interview technique for so long now, it deosn’t matter to him who is the interviewer.

Sitting down to watch highlights of the All-Ireland Football Final on a Saturday night 6 days before Christmas is utterly surreal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

This interview should really be on BBC4

He should have put a donk in it

“You and your Dad, were you close?”

Did Idris get his questions from Ryan Tubridy?

yeah it's quite something esp for fans of Limerick (jammy gits :D) and Dublin. If somebody suggested last January we be watching the All Ireland finals live days before Christmas day you'd be brought away by people in white coats

Even though we lost in the hurling final, i'm still very happy how it panned out and will always remember the Christmas All Irelands as long as i live

Idris: “So Paul, how do you feel about shafting Pete Best on the cusp of success?”

Why was it on a Saturday at 5pm this year?

I suspect some people would have missed it

It seemed to pass by without much hype at all

No idea, I know the Women's Football Final always follows the men's, possibly that had something to do with it.
