I once lost access to an email account that I used to create my PSN account at the launch of PS3. They were able to change the account over to another email address so I could regain access, but they needed the serial number of the last console I used to sign into the account. This was in 2015, they may have changed this by now.

Piece of advice: If you are gonna call them, do it as soon as the lines open at 9:30, otherwise you will be on hold for an hour.

The number the bot gave me to ring isn't ringing: 0203 538 2665. Looks like the UK number? Anybody know the Irish number? Thanks

They've been good at picking up lately but then I'm from London. Last three times I got through in under 10 minutes, twice of which was right away and this is late afternoon. Might be because they have prioritised phone numbers with a case though. Just as well too as they're already doing the , "please send us proof of postage" nonsense. 🙄 Good luck!

Have a look for the dualshock issues thread on this forum, I posted the details on there a while back. Should be on the first few pages.

has DIRT been freezing for anyone ??

i literally completed the first race in career ( offline) and it froze :(

No and I have played it quite a lot recently. FIFA 22 is stuttering for me in offline games the odd time. Google tells me it’s a common issue.

Starting to get a little drift in one of my Dualsense controllers. Was bought day 1 so well over 12 months old now. Would this be covered under warranty still? I.e. is guarantee period 1 or 2 yrs?

Bring it back to wherever you bought it and see what they say.

You're covered under the Sale of Goods act so you would be entitled to either a repair, a replacement or a refund. The choice is up to the supplier.

There's a separate thread in the PlayStation forum where quite a few of us have had issues. Considering the low supply of consoles and so early in the controller life it seems like quite a high chance of an issue developing with the Dual Sense.

Since getting the ps5 at launch, the brightness has always been a bit off. Whites looked grey, but just in games but on the ps5 settings as well. Every now and again I'd go messing with the settings, hdr setup on ps5, brightness settings on my lg 8500sm, etc but nothing worked and I'd forget about it. Dark areas in games were pitch black and whites always looked grey.

Playing Dying Light (can be very dark) and Sifu ( bright white menu that looks grey) i decided to look into it again. Went into ps5 settings and just turned off hdr. Voila, it now looks exactly as it should. Not sure if my 4k hdr telly just isn't good enough or what but after a year of next gen gaming, games finally look right again. Can't believe i didn't try it sooner.

Your TV should be ok but maybe it just can't get bright enough for HDR10?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,262 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

Spent most of today trying to solve the same HDR issue. Tried every setting in the TV and PS5.

Turned out I had the brightness up too high. It was washing everything out. Colours looked faded, black where always grey.

Put the brightness down from 53 to 48 and contrast up to 90 and it sorted it. But turning HDR off is also good for the colour pallette.

Also a good idea to look up the best settings for your TV. I've no idea what to set 🤣 so ended up on YouTube for the LG bx and the settings for the cx are the same.

For HDR to work properly you really need an oled screen that can turn on and off the pixels. Anything with a full panel back light will do okay, anything that is back lit from the sides will do a terrible job of it.

One of the things that often causes problems is a mismatch between HDMI black level on your TV and the corresponding RGB range setting on PS5. Auto detection doesn't always work so it's better to set it yourself.

Where are people buying their games? GT7 will be my first full price PS5 game, going from €65 PS4 to €80 PS5 games stings a little but it doesn't seem like there's any savings to be had. Amazon is more expensive than Smyths, Argos never have anything these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,157 ✭✭✭Markitron

You don't really see any discounts on €80 PS5 games for a while. It took Demon's Souls a year to get a decent discount. You are probably just gonna have to bite the bullet.

The PS5 version of Gran Turismo 7 on the American Playstation store is around €60.

You can get it on disk here cheaper if you can get a game on the trade list for cheaper.

I think the Turkey store is very cheap.

Amazon France have it for €65, might look into that. Don't know if the Prime membership trial will have free shipping to Ireland but there's one or two other games I'd like to pick up to even out the shipping cost.

Also. It looks like the PS5 version of Cyberpunk will be out today.

    Hey all,

So, my PS5 has two profiles: mine (who’s region is set to Ireland) and my girlfriend’s (who’s region is set to Spain). AC Valhalla was purchased on my girlfriend’s Spanish account, which gave me access as both of our profiles are on the same PS5.

    No problem.

However, can Dawn Of Ragnarok only be purchased through her Spanish account or can I purchase it from my Irish one?

Technically she owns Valhalla so is it her that needs to purchase it to give me access?

It might seem like a mute point, but I have some Irish PSN credit to use up and don’t want to find out I can’t play the DLC because I didn’t purchase the base game on my Irish account.

Yeah i bought Valhalla off my US account so in the same boat. Looks like its not a standalone DLC so you would need to purchase it from the same account that purchased Valhalla

Does anyone know why it take so long for a game to install from disk. Cyberpunk ps4 version is saying that it will take 14 hours which is crazy because it's coming from adisk.

Does anyone know a way to speed it up as it would be quicker downloading it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,581 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

Slow write speeds and probably downloading a patch in the background.

As this is PS5 thread, I’m assuming this is a PS5 issue. Change the install location for the PS4 game to the SSD so it speeds up the install. You can try copy the game back to external drive afterwards if that’s your normal location. That tends to be quick enough.
