Hello all. Anyone been back to FlyeFit George's Street recently? I'm contemplating re-activating my membership but just a bit concerned about numbers/hygiene in the gyms. I have roaming, so any of the Dublin city centre FlyeFits would be fine if anyone has any experience of quieter ones?
George's St. is the handiest for me though. If they are packed I might hold off for a while and see how ths Delta variant pans out.
Thanks for any info.you can give.

Hi Yosser. The quietest Flyefit I found is either Baggot Street or CHQ.

Depending on the time you plan on going, George's Street is either packed or half full. You'll notice the amount of people and the fact that you can stay on after your slot means there is a bleed from slot to slot.

The cleaning staff seem to be on top of things and you will notice them and the trainers moving about the place. Most of the cleaning is left up to the person; most people seem to be keeping on top of the cleaning.

There are some people wearing mask, though not many.

I've been waiting on machines/bench/racks most times that I have gone. I generally go right before or right after work.

Thanks Kamu. I might try Baggot Street. I was thinking about going really early in the mornings like 6:30 am.
I think I'll wait a few weeks though.

    Thanks again.

I stayed in The Clayton on Grand Canal at the weekend and they had the Jacuzzi open when I was using the pool. Numbers were limited but it was open

I am a gym member there - the Jacuzzi is not meant to be open yet, however the toddlers pool is open. Hope you had a good shower after.

Has anyone heard any rumours or plans about Flyefit's opening times? It was only a couple of times I went for a 3AM workout, even as a night owl, but it really was nice to be able to pop down at 11PM. The last slot starting at 20:30 is really disappointing.

I've seen plenty of comments about easing up on the booking system and showers returning, etc, but nothing about a return to 24hr. I can't say I ever saw any rationale for reducing opening times - it must be financial, because surely the longer it's open the more the gym-goers will be spread out?

It won't be until such time as they aren't managing numbers and don't need someone there. When that is is anyone's guess

Well they plan to phase out booking completely by July 18th so there won't be many managing numbers from then on anyway.

Coolaboola. Had missed that in the email.

Recent talk of a Delta wave make me less confident of that though but hopefully

When did Flyfit allow 16's to join? , junior wants to switch for convenience and I had it in my head that it was 18+, did they change their rules in the last year or 2?

Any gym admitting teenagers should stipulate they attend the gym alone and that walking around with your hands down your trousers /shorts results in your membership being revoked on the spot.

    Glazers Out!

Was told yesterday that classes can't open tomorrow, like indoor dining. Is this a general thing in gyms?

With numbers going up and up I hope to f*ck they don't close gyms again. Surely not.

I wouldn't sell the home weights just yet. Nphet and the government are capable of fûcking anything at this stage.

If the rumours are true we are set for another lockdown in September....

Spoofing at this stage, doubt they have thought beyond the summer. Or maybe not beyond the 19th!

The government are looking at NI and the UK to see how they fare as they are only a few weeks / couple months ahead of us in terms of both delta numbers and vaccination numbers.

They are literally waiting to see if hospital admissions and deaths rise as case numbers do. If they do, they will apply more measures as needed. If the link between case numbers and hospitalisation and deaths can be shown to broken though, we are hunky dory.

Either way, come winter adult vaccination numbers will mean the virus will only be circulating in kids, vaccine refusers and people who get re infected with mild cases. It should be ok.

Hospitals are a shambles every winter though, but maybe this year people will be more concerned about that.

If anything positive can be taken from the events of the past 18 months, it's that it has put a spotlight on the shortcomings of our health service.

I would've attended this branch up until recently as my regular gym only opened in the last few days after repairs (it flooded during May).

My experience is that even during evening slots that are booked out, the gym is busy, but not with people on top of each other - for instance, I've never had anyone on a treadmill next to me yet. I was comfortable but different people have different levels of comfort and risk.

Weekends no longer require bookings though, so weekdays might be phased out soon.

Anyone know how much Raw membership is at the minute?

Not in the mood to get the hard sell from them in person.

If you have a 4 day trial get your worth from it.

You can do one of the classes, visit the Gym,then visit the spa area for a jacuzzi etc and then swim.

Be a shame if you had a 4 day pass and just used the Pool.
