    again, i ask, so what?

I'm not sure what's bothering you about my posts, ie ehat are you saying so what about

So what if Biden fans are just as blind Trump fans?

Or so what if Hunter Biden gets rich on his dad's influence?

    American Gothic Horror

Why is Biden actually running? It is an interesting question that has been put out several people mostly along the lines of what forced him to run given he was retired.

He's running because it's the morally correct thing to do. He saw himself as the best chance of beating Trump and so did the DNC. It's that simple.

    they/them/theirs

Every time Trump says something stupid or lies its either 'out of context', 'he was being sarcastic', 'it's the media', 'he was joking', 'he was being optimistic'.

There was a time way back when we expected a President to take responsibility for his own words.

For a guy who supposedly says it like it is his supporters spend an awful lot of time clarifying and explaining his statements.

There's no indication there was physical damage to the SSDs themselves. Even if they got a bit wet all it normally takes is to remove the drive, plug it in to an external housing and use a clone tool to move all the data to a new drive. Maybe 30 minutes work.

    “30 minutes work”

SSD storage on a MacBook Pro is encrypted. The memory is striped to a T2 controller unique to the motherboard, desoldering the drive would make the contents irretrievable.

Did the Macbook in question have the T2 security chip referred to in the article? It was only introduced in 2018 for the Macbook Pro https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208862 so you would have to know for certain it was built less than a year before the repair.

In the same way as Trump has a history of being the greatest ______ of all time?

    White-collar criminal?

When the President is selectively edited to take things out of context it has consequences.

Wasn't Rex Tillerson in charge of Exxon?

Maybe he's just telling what happened when he called Rex?

    not yet

But he has attacked the moderator as a Democrat (a lie) and whined about the choice of topics.

For some bizarre reason, his campaign think Foreign Policy would be a strong topic for him, even though he has no policies and is a laughing stock worldwide.

The problem with RCP is that no weight is given to any poll. The worst poll with the dodgiest methodology is given the same weight as the best. Which is why fivethirtyeight is far more accurate each time.

The Economist has a very robust model as well

They are currently predicting an EC result of 346 to 192 for Biden.

The Statistical control limits are 229 to 416 for Biden and 122 to 309 for Trump.

This is how they explain the methodology
    Electoral-college simulations
Our model works by simulating 20,000 paths for the election, each time varying candidates’ vote shares to account for polling error, changes in turnout or the political environment and the effects of campaigning. The bars below represent the predicted likelihood of every plausible electoral-vote outcome.

Currently that model has Biden winning 92% of the time.

Well - Not exactly , they think a debate topic of "Foreign Policy" gives him the opening to babble on about how China own Joe Biden and how Hunter got Gazillions from all these foreigners , "The Biden Crime Family" blah blah blah..

It is absolutely not because they think that Trump has something valuable to share with voters about the minutiae of his approach to Foreign policy.

Suddenly not so “easy” now and not a “30 minute job.”

Next hole in this story: Biden rich enough to fly 3,000 miles to a Mac repair store, not rich enough to buy a recent laptop.

$85 to desolder and transplant NAND chips from a donor motherboard to a new motherboard? :D amazing how a legally blind repair shop owner can charge so little and do such fine microcircuitry work! He must have zero overhead, maybe loads of overpaying Russian clientele

You must be fair fit to do all the gymnastics you do.

Is there anything that Trumpians will not do or say to justify his deranged rantings? It really has become a cult of personality. It's scary how deluded they've become.

Looked it up for you, 2017 MacBook Pro. Serial number is on the docket. Doesn’t have the T2 chip. Are you saying no one would use a 1.5 -2 year old MacBook Pro if they were rich?

Trump was merely illustrating what he would do if he was as corrupt as he believes Biden to be.

He just babbles with the uncontrolled "stream of consciousness" that is indicative of a privileged man who has never been told to "Shut the hell up".

He doesn't consider his words , he doesn't consider the consequences , he just opens his mouth and lets the word salad fall out.

And then his enablers have to spend the next hours/days/weeks explaining "what he really meant" or that "he wasn't being serious" or that "he was being sarcastic" and so on.

Again - He is the President , what he says and how he says it matters , it has implications , it will be analysed and picked over by everyone looking for nuance.

He either doesn't understand that or just doesn't care.

    Neither is a good thing.

I won't deny that he is prone to babbling but aren't his actions or intent what is important?

I think people deliberately amplifying and misrepresenting him are much more to blame for any damage caused.

They absolutely are , but it taking several "interpreters" hitting the media circuit in the hours/days after he speaks to explain what those intents are is not very good.

And more importantly , he's not getting any better at it .

His lack of growth and development in the role is quite frightening actually.

Like I said - When the President speaks it has consequences.

Exxon felt they needed to respond to his comment so it was interpreted in a way that they felt might be damaging for them.

He does this over and over and over again.

You had Lara Trump saying that he was "only having a laugh" when he was attacking Whitmer at his rally on Friday or Saturday.

Whitmer was able to show a direct increase in threats being made over Social Media immediately after he made the comments.

How many times has he said the wrong/inappropriate thing when speaking to foreign leaders etc.?

I said Trump is an abomination many times, but on this and its not a major issue, this was Ruppar been devious with a clip looking for retweets and the fact he has somewhat owned up to it proves it.

Of course the Exxon have to distance themselves because of that cheekily edited clip.

You can criticise Trump and also call out people like Ruppar at the same time.

This is why the debate went so badly for him, why he ducked the 2nd and will probably duck the 3rd.

Unedited, without a news anchor to tell you what he is talking about, it is just rambling nonsense, crazy uncle talk, Abe Simpson wearing an onion on his belt.

That's fair , but going back to the lack of growth - He keeps giving them the ammunition doesn't he?

Why use that stupid hypothetical anecdote in 1st place when every dog in the street could tell you it was going to "get meme'd" ??

of course and he should know better by now, but ultimately he is a loud obnoxious 74 year old boomer so he can't change.

I don't want to defend Ruppar but its something he has learned from the right this selective editing, some of the dailywire people very good at it also sadly.:(

No. And 2020 proved this extends to just about anything imaginable with basically no exceptions, to an extent nobody would have believed back in 2016 when we were less acutely aware of how cults work.

The endorsements for Biden from conservatives just keep rolling in:
Retired Navy Adm. William McRaven, the former head of US Special Operations Command who oversaw the successful raid that killed Osama bin Laden, said he is voting for Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

"Truth be told, I am a pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, small-government, strong-defense and a national-anthem-standing conservative," McRaven wrote in a Wall Street Journal op-ed published Monday. "But, I also believe that black lives matter, that the Dreamers deserve a path to citizenship, that diversity and inclusion are essential to our national success, that education is the great equalizer, that climate change is real and that the First Amendment is the cornerstone of our democracy."

But this is the problem. Trump used Exxon as an example of what he claims he could do.

Why name them? If nothing went on, then it puts them in a very awkward position and it suggests there was some shady business going on.

But how do we know Trump didn’t hang permits over their heads? He has a history of dealing out a quid pro quo, and then he says this. For all we know, Exxon could have told him to go f*ck himself.

It was a bizarre rambling and it raises questions that were entirely of his own doing. It was so, so stupid to even name a company in a hypothetical anecdote.

Pat Robertson reports that he has been told by God that Trump will win reelection ... and it will bring about the beginning of the End Times.

He really does appeal to the crackpots.

No. And 2020 proved this extends to just about anything imaginable with basically no exceptions, to an extent nobody would have believed back in 2016 when we were less acutely aware of how cults work.

I think we knew the danger of the media. But nobody was quite ready for just how many people could be brainwashed into such raw and unabashed hatred of one man!

Trump was fully aware that he would need to make some very tough decisions when he got into office - he said this in interviews back in the 80's. And he fully acknowledged that these decisions would make him very unpopular with many people... but he knew it still needed to be done. "Major surgery" as he called it back then.

I'll see if I can find the old interview where he talks about this.

But I think even Trump will have been shocked by levels that the media have stooped to when trying to undermine his job. Of course, they've failed in this and their ultimate goal of getting him out of office. But I do still think some "major surgery" needs to be carried out on the media in terms of reforms to how they conduct themselves, and how accountable they are for the hatred they have fostered throughout the country.

Do you think this will ease off during his second term? I always felt the mainstream media BS spouted over the past four years was to try stop him getting a second term. There will be no such incentive over the next four years though so hopefully they will back off and let him get on with it...
