Have to agree, not sure I see him coming back as things stand, unless Bora burn themselves out and the front group sit up.

    But only 30 secs?
Surely they can get that back?

    Ok!
I wonder are they just looking for those points at the intermediate stage?
And then Sams group will catch them

Some effort from Bora tbf, great tactics.

I don't think Bora would have burned so many matches just for the intermediate sprint

Wow, the gap went from 35 secs to 1.40 in a few kms no? At work so can't follow as I would like.

Any notable GC contenders that got stuck in the 2nd (or even the 3rd) group?

The green jersey group is now more than two minutes down. Ewan's third group is at 4:20.

Second for Sagan in the sprint, 17 pts so back into virtual green.

Dani Martinez is probably the "GC-est" rider in the second group but hes over 4 minutes down on GC in any case

That puts sagan 5 points ahead of Sam now .

I can't see Bora letting this gsp close too much unless riders blow up.

This is the issue I was referring to of having Allaphilipe and Sam in the same team ...divided resources

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,600 ✭✭✭happytramp

I think it's fair to say this would be far more enjoyable if Sam had made the 1st group... 100k+ with no one to shout for.

Maybe the 2nd Group should have waited for the 3rd group earlier when a minute apart

True, but Bora are in the same boat with Sagan and Buchmann

Any chance Sam gets back on after this climb? Doubtful I'd say.

More likely to lose more time.

He's 3'44" behind now so game over for today

Yeah, and he can keep his fingers crossed Sagan doesn't win the stage or he'll be nearly 60 points behind after a stage he probably expected that he'd pull even further ahead in.

Not sure why DQT are continuing to ride at this point?

Not sure why DQT are continuing to ride at this point?

He's even pulling turns himself. Waste of time and effort

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,600 ✭✭✭happytramp

I missed the split earlier but should the plan not have been for Sam and a couple of DQS boys to be sat on Sagan's wheel for the nest two weeks?

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,331 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

    They've stopped now anyway

EDIT: Sam in on the front of the group. Not sure what his thought process is
