    Thoroughly deserved victory
They could have scored more in the first half and overall had the best chances

    Liverpool very poor
TAA is a weak link in this formation
Thiago was lucky to be on the pitch considering his accumulation of fouls

    Tasty result for Southampton

He got injured and has been struggling to recover any kind of form since coming back. Hardly letting plaudits get to his head.

He has started 14 out of 17 league games and came on in a sub in another. Hardly a lengthy injury lay off now is it?

Fairly easy for Southampton in the end. Forster with only middlin shot to save.

Apparently Thiago made more passes than any player ever on a losing team.

As a neutral that was bloody delightful to watch.

I wonder what Klopp will moan about in the post match interview.

From a fitness perspective doesn't seem wise keeping Thiago on for the full game so soon after returning to fitness.

Great result for the league. Well done Saints.

Well done to Southampton, especially as they were up against it with the ref doing his very best to not send off Thiago. Does not matter now thankfully for them

Some turnaround for them since the 9-0 defeat last season

    Taa? Misfiring strike force?

Agreed, as a neutral myself it was a decent watch.

Saints deserved to best us, great defending.
As for Liverpool , poor form continues.
Cannot blame injuries or make shift defence.
Man u will do us too .

He's played worse since he was injured. Almost like the injury knocked his form. Are you just trying to be obtuse for the sake of it?

Good second half from Liverpool but not in front of goal. You can see from his reaction what thay win meant to Hasenhuetti.

    Non firing more like.

More concerned with passing and possession than actually getting shots on target. Southampton only had their back-up keeper and all. Should have been bit more driven.

Enjoyable result. Losing Jota has unsettled Liverpool quite a lot. Think they ought to dip into the transfer market for a defender.

It's such a shame there are no fans. That table is looking awesome for 17 games in.

Jota a big loss alright but Minamino looked very good against Palace but wasn't used today.

Nor Origi surely when the front three weren't firing you look to change things.

If they done that at the start of the season instead of depending on midfielders as back up, they would be running away with the league.

Or just kept Lovren as back up. Expecting 3 CB to cover maybe 50 games (incl cups and Europe) was a bit much.

I'd give it 7 more and city will be 7/8 points ahead and run away with it from there, they are only starting to get going now after a long summer

This is what I don't get. Minamino has looked solid the last few times he's played. Yet Klopp never wants to play him. Mane couldn't control the ball the whole game and Salah was poor throughout yet Klopp refuses to sub them. I'd trust Klopp in the long run but he does seem to make some utterly silly decisions at times.

Ings is a real likeable guy, delighted he's staying fit and showing how good a player he is.

A back up LB was more important. There was none in the squad and was needed before last season, let alone this season.

If Liverpool had kept Lovren (or signed another CB) and not signed a LB and Robertson had gotten injured for the season, ye would be saying that that was the wrong decision too. Had to pick one or the other.
