Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

They probably have some sort of a following Stateside, but don't think they've been around long enough to have made much of an impact over there and their tours tend to be mostly UK based. That said they have picked up a couple of CMA's, so they're obviously on the radar of the right people over there at the very least.

mmm, looks like I'm heading for 2 wooden spoons now - last here and last at kev's. Oh well. . .
Though I think I have a better chance in the disco category.

I believe I'm definitely a contender for the wooden spoon for both Shane and Kev as well.

A great discovery for me here, how I haven’t heard this before baffles me. Such a fun song that’s great to sing along to. The guitar solos are great too. Now I'm curious are there lots of trucking songs I've been missing out on?

    Glad you liked Tom Robinson

Atmospherics Listen to the radio is an all time favourite of mine too - as well as the anthem way ahead of his time "Glad to be gay" and "War Baby"

Also happy to see I managed to scrabble up the ranking a bit :D but I keep missing the reveals

On the driving songs: they did a study and found that people who listen to rock and metal while they drive are more likely to break the speed limit without realising it.
People who listened to classical music were the best at keeping under the limit.

The first time I ever went over 100 was to Steppenwolf's Born to be Wild. (Why I never thought of it for this round, is beyond me) it was also my first time driving the motorway so I was within the speed limit, just...it felt fast to me:D

    Tonight at 8pm we catch....

    Get Ready!

    tenor.gif?itemid=16685914

Now I know what you're thinking "Shane you're gonna spam this thread with Disco songs aren't you?" You're damn right :D because

    mIUylu6.jpg

The Nolans - I'm In the Mood for Dancing
No-one chose Ireland's disco sisters, where's your national pride? :pac:

Boys Town Gang - Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You
So during this Walrus I discovered there is sub-genre of disco called Hi-NRG and a lot of my favourite disco songs seem to fall into this category. Here's one of them

    Sheila & B. Devotion - Spacer
Great piano combined with an unmistakable Nile Rodgers guitar riff

Andrea True Connection - More, More, More
Great saxophone and piano in this and the ten second bridge at 2:19 created a whole other song I like too!

Electric Light Orchestra - Last Train to London
I'm a big fan of ELO, this is my favourite song of theirs that you'd classify as disco. Strings are fantastic as always with this band.

    Chicago - Street Player
Love this, the horn section is brilliant.

I already mentioned there were new disco songs coming out. The next two were only in the charts recently but the disco influence is there to see!

    Doja Cat - Say So

Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now

Went for a modern disco track and therefore hopefully unknown to Shane for this one, which probably means I'll be propping up the lower end of the table once again with all the old school classics that are undoubtedly in the mix, but even if knew I was getting last place, I'd still pick the exact same song were I to do it all over again.

I wanted to go a with nu-disco song, but at the end I went with an old time classic.
I will admit though that the new ones I'm more interested in

Googled this one, not sure if mine qualifies or not.

There is no disco in country music, so I was a bit lost.

...ehh, don't recall the song :o but it sounded somewhat ...disco ball-ish

I am conscious that defining genres can be tricky.
I have already started thinking of categories for my next Walrus and I try to keep them as genre free as possible, to welcome all sorts of music, even the ones that I'm not particularly fond of, but in a way that there will be a chance to like most (if not all). I was really impressed by the Metallica song that fixXxer submitted for me, so there you go. . .:)

This is a cover of Sheila’s Spacer that I posted earlier. The lyrics are completely different though. The deep male voice that comes in around 2:40 was bizarre.

Love the violin in this. The Spanish accents pronouncing some of the words wrong adds to the charm of it, did they record this on the first take? :D

Jon Pardi - She Ain’t in it

Have I listened to this artist before? No
Have I listened to this song before? No

So this entrant insisted on sending a country song for every category. I don’t think there’s any country disco songs around so he was stuck on this round :D We have since learned that Cotton Eye Joe is the ultimate (and only) country disco song so disregard that last remark. I guess we’ll treat this as the slow set :pac: I enjoyed this, some really nice violin in it

Carl Douglas – Kung Fu Fighting

Have I listened to this artist before? Yes

An absolute classic. Always found a black guy singing about funky Chinamen Billy Chin and Sammy Chung very strange but it’s a great song anyway.

    y0ssar1an22
Infernal – From Paris to Berlin

Have I listened to this artist before? Yes
Have I listened to this song before? Yes

It’s not a disco song despite the lyrics mentioning visiting discos in various European cities. However there’s a lot of energy in this and it’s good dancefloor material.

    LeVar
Ekkah – Can’t Give It Up

Have I listened to this artist before? No

Really enjoyed this. Guitar is groovy and the chorus is catchy.

    RasTa
    Rupa – East West Shuffle

Have I listened to this artist before? No
Have I listened to this song before? No

No lyrics to this but I found myself bopping along to it before long. Didn’t know Indian Disco was a thing but we learn something new every day :D The guitar has a traditional Indian sound to it.

KC & The Sunshine Band – Boogie Shoes

Have I listened to this artist before? Yes

I’m a big fan of this band but this wouldn’t be one of my favourites of theirs. It has a much slower tempo than what they usually put out. Get Down tonight or That’s The Way I like It would have been amazing choices.

Donna Summer – I Feel Love

I always thought this as more of an electro song than Disco. I think it was the first all-electronic number one? Either way it’s fantastic!

In 18th place with 4 points is

Can't say I like disco at all - I couldn't think of a better one

Who invited this party pooper? :D It’s more of a Soul song than Disco. The lyrics are rubbish, even Patti LaBelle had no idea what the song was about. She doesn’t even speak French!
