Thought the Liam Hayes interview was brilliant, kudos to both himself and Richie.

As a Meath man who was born just at the height of that great Meath team, I do not remember Liam Hayes play...

Liam Hayes, David Beggy and possibly Gerry McEntee visited my school in Meath after the 88 win. They school photocopied their autographs and handed them out to everyone, mine is still at home somewhere

The twitter sphere strikes again. Im not surprised that Eoin thought that LeBron was universally loved as I am sure his twitter feed only sees the political stance views that agrees with his

It's amazing that that's your take away from the interview.

Stick them on ignore & be done with it. Their username alone is a good indicator for that course of action!

The lads had their say on it on the show today and their opinion, albeit politely but with a decent hint of sarcasm, matched mine.

Love how Lawrence Donegan made LeBron sound like he's boring to watch.

Randomly came across this video today and wasn’t aware it was where a lot of the second captains intro sound bites come from.
Probably one of the funniest 30mins I’ve ever seen. So random that the two lads went on together.

I enjoyed how refreshingly honest all that is..

And it also felt somewhat parochial. Like three lads talking about their local GAA club's fortunes.

Football talk today is not even close to that.

They were playing clips of it way back on Newstalk, might have had someone on to talk about it too, can't remember.

Clough was such a cheeky little bollocks in it, imagine David Moyes appearing on MUTV the day after his reign had ended sitting beside Alex Ferguson, seems utterly surreal that it happened and good thing they preserved it.

Odd podcast yesterday. Eanna Falvey on, he was very defensive in my mind anyway, shows that if changes to rugby are needed to protect players it realistically needs to originate from outside world rugby.

Everytime I hear someone say 'people who know more about rugby than me' I know the conversation about concussion will drag for years longer than it should.

can't believe he said that. so he prefers 3pointers to someone driving to the basket. the whole debate about declining NBA ratings is because 3pointers are boring

I know sweet **** all about basketball, but if Lebron's highlight reels on Youtube are anything to go by then Lawrence deserves a serious verbal broadsiding for the disservice he did to Lebron in that pod. The guy literally makes it look like he's playing against kids the way he tears through the opposing teams. He also seems to sink his fair share of 3 pointers too.

Well in fairness he said he doesn't follow basketball and he wasn't brought on to talk about it. He was just put on the spot.

Though it hard to argue that Aguerooo isn’t a premier leaugue legend..... the whole Man City project just seems fake and forgettable.... when Pep talks about Man City legacy and legends it just sounds hollow and empty.

Does the same standard get applied to Chelsea?

For some reason I don't think so. I don't know why. Could be as they said today the fans have this against the uefa man or whatever but I don't think so.

Chelsea taken over 2004 and city 2008. There's way more kids who are Chelsea fans than city fans.

People have connected with Chelsea in a way they haven't with city. That could be something to do with their immediate history before takeover. Chelsea bought glamour while city just came back up through the leagues.

Chelsea bought personalities, Drogba, Cole, cech alongside what they had in Terry and Lampard. City didn't have those established players and the players they brought in didn't connect with media or football fans in general. Aguero still can't speak English. Robinho didn't know who he was signing for.

City feel like one of those US franchise teams that move city. Oakland/LA/Las Vegas Raiders or the Vancouver/Memphis Grizzlies.

Chelsea had also qualified for the Champions League before Abramovich took over. They are one of the few teams never to be relegated from the Premier League. They were never a push over. They had Desailly, Poyet, Zola, Vialli and other fantastic players.

They are also owned by a rich man instead of a rich country. I'm not sure why that's different but it feels different.

That said I cannot stand either club and would give the final on Saturday a miss if there was anything else to do.

    Essential viewing.
The Damned United, although a good bit fictionalised, is a great watch too.

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

Aguero's English is good, he simply has no interest in interviews and plays the dopey foreigner character to get out of doing them.

City have had comparable personalities over the last decade (Zabaleta, Richards, Kompany, Kolarov off the top of my head), whether you choose to buy into them is your own choice.

I think I'm gonna cancel my sub after the euros. I can't get round to all the podcasts I've signed up for and SC is down the list these days. Did they spend 20 minutes the other day chewing over why Winaldum is leaving Liverpool; sure felt like it...

I wonder do they do that thing where you have to ring them up if you want to cancel, and Eoin spends half an hour trying to convince you that they're still worth a fiver a month:p

Why do you feel the need to tell us your cancelling? Just cancel if you don't listen or enjoy the podcasts

Sorry, just wondering is it me or is it them I suppose. Do other people find the podcasts dragging lately or is my disenchantment part of this phenomenon

Malachy Clerkin: It’s hard to love football when it’s on all the time
Premier League during the pandemic has become a chore with matches on every day

    Thanks for clarifying

I'm struggling to care as much about sport so not enjoying watching it as much however I still love listening to the podcast as its mindless escapism for me

Caitlín Thompson on today. Excellent as always, really has a gift for simplifying topics that can appear complex in a sport that a lot of people don't really care about.

However, for me, it was a bit like Torville skating without Dean.
I really can't put my finger on it and I'm sure it's only in my head but I just really like listening to Eoin and Caitlín chatting.

because Murph is pretty poor at presenting/interviewing, better as a side kick with the odd quip
