I think his obsession/hatred for Murinio comes from Jose ruining Liverpool’s chance of winning a league under Brendan Rodgers. I think Liverpool fans universally hate Jose.

Goes back to the Eva Caineiro incident. He absolutely gave Jose both barrels on that one. Can’t recall there being an issue before hand.

No chance of a football show tomorrow after a 9-0 win for Man Utd. Probably be another rugby show, potentially a gaa show.....

Is there really much to say about this?! Two reds and a team thats losing give up. I never really see the big deal with giant scorelines, still 3 points and 0 for the other team.

I honestly cannot get my head around grown men being incapable of listening to a podcast without trying to infer bias against the team they support. It's ridiculous.

There was also a lot of VAR... The BT studio went into full crisis mode.
And also a David Luiz red.....

It's genuinely one of the aspects I like most about their football coverage is that any affiliations Eoin or Ken may have, don't affect things. As a United fan, i certainly don't think there's an anti-United vibe at all off Ken. Indeed him ripping the piss out of how poor United are has been a big help in dealing with how poor we've been the last number of years :D Equally, whether it's Lampard, José, Brendan Rodgers or Gerrard, I enjoy it when he goes after other teams too.

It's not like he's Ger Gilroy or something; sneering and sniding away on air about various teams, revelling in their defeats and then trying to come across as balanced when he has contributors on the show with him.

I don't support any premier league team. But with 5 games still to play tonight, including the champions and league leaders and the biggest game of the gameweek tomorrow, they could easily not do a football show today.

Just tried to listen to yesterday's pod. Rugby with Shane Horgan and Andrew Trimble, so was worried it'd be boring. But it's a 6 nations preview, so I thought that'd be a good, broader topic. And then Horgan started talking about some tactics about quick ruck ball or something like that. Immediately deleted. Why does it get so boring and inside baseball so quickly with every rugby chat?

I watch the six nations, can’t listen to the rugby pod. I watch very little American sports but I find US Murph a great listen....

I've noticed the pods after Liverpool lost a few recently, they rarely touched on the subject or they had the odd discussion and quickly moved on

Didn't listen to todays podcast so not sure if your referring to today but its been notable that he hasn't really criticised them too much

They did touch on it on Monday's pod and as Eoin suggested it's probably down to injuries and it gets boring to talk about injuries hence people wildly speculate on other things like Neville did with Thiago. When in reality it's probably down to the injuries.

And to be honest only for I keep seeing it here I'd never guess that Ken is a Liverpool fan just from listening to the podcast alone.

I'm exactly the same! Have never watched a Superbowl for example, but love listening to it.
It's rare I delete episodes without giving them a chance, but when I read the blurb, I just thought I wouldn't really hear anything new.

(not attacking the pod btw, it's understandable how not everything can be my cup of tea)

Ha, as a Liverpool fan I always felt he over compensated by always being a bit harder on Liverpool. Either getting on board with whatever non Liverpool fans are currently slagging Liverpool or comparing whatever general scandal to that time in the last 25 years Liverpool also fncked up.

Man Utd also live rent free in his head, like a lot of us of a certain age.

I suppose I'm saying the same as you but from the other stand.

As a United fan, I do remember him being a huge critic of Liverpool over the years and giving it loads when things went wrong. I only realised he was a pool fan from this thread. But since Klopp won champions league there has been little criticism, mind you, up until maybe November there has been little to criticise.

Horgan really struggles to get anything interesting about. The rugby coverage is poor tbh. As a six nations preview, I learnt nothing. No real interesting topics discussed, no great picking apart the contenders etc. The majority of it was spent discussing rules and why its so bad to watch international rugby recently

I would have never guessed that Ken supposedly supports any team to be honest.

I figured he was taking the piss out of United a bit lately, because there was quite simply a lot to take the piss about.

He didn't have much criticism of Liverpool, because there was quite simply not much to be critical of.

And I think he dislikes Jose because Jose is quite simply a trollish dickhead.

Second Captains rugby chat is boring is the issue. Rugby chat in general can be quite good.

found the interview today really nice and nostaglic. lovely stuff and a bit of a change of pace. we will however now require a full hour of kens rambles after tonights liverpool result. i wonder is he close to being back on the fags...

Agreed, I like Rugby particularly around 6 nations.

Matt O'Connor type would certainly liven it up a bit, Trimble is better than Horgan but neither are great tbh. Horgan sounded like he was trying to get Drico on the coaching ticket as a backs coach was all I got yesterday :)

I actually think they should let Simon Hick have it and reimagine it as I think he is better than any external people they get on.

    Completely agree.

For me at least (I like watching 6 nations/World Cup games but that's it) I find all rugby chat centres around tactical analysis and it always feels like you're waiting at the door of a niche department in a blue chip company overhearing the Old School Ties bluffing their way until pub time.
All detail and no gossip. All the fun stories are well-worn tales that have been hacked around after-dinner functions for years and the passing-interest "Rugby Fan" gets the crumbs that fall from the top table but only with The Ties Club permission.

It might be too easy to lay all the blame at the middle-class, mid-management, nose tapping Old Boys in-speak nature of Rugby and I've wondered has a lot of it also to do with the lack of a bustling transfer market and what that can throw up in the way of breaking the codes of loyalty and decency.

Rugby pundits always play the ball and not the player and there's not a lot of fun in that.

I simply skip the Rugby episodes but I would give a listen if Simon Hick, Ken Burley and Donncha O'Callaghan crashed the boardroom and started drawing willies on the white board.

I’ve actually unsubscribed! Have been a fan since day 1 but it’s gone stale. I’ll be a Monday only scumbag for a while and reasses.

I find most sport has gone quite stale for me. Not getting anywhere near the same enjoyment out of it. I should be incredibly excited for the 6 nations, but I couldn't give a toss this year.

Bit the same.. the lack of crowds kills it for me.

Lucky for me, SC is less about the minutia of what happens out on the field

In fairness he's probably right but as they said, it doesn't make for interesting listening to bang on about injuries.

Did this in November when DOD returned because I cannay stand him or his brand of whimsy, but came crawling back to world service in January like the proper scumbag I am. Tried a good few other football pods, but they're all either a bit too blokey or smug and pleased with themselves.

Wish Ken would do more Friday politics or general news pods even, but still happy to be back on board.
