According to Trump the last number of months, Biden is suffering degenerative cognitive decline, has to be kept in his basement to kee him out of harms way.

And yet Trump came out, at best, equal with him in the debate!

This is the man you think should lead the US for 4 years? A man that cannot even beat a dementia sufferer in a debate?

Trump should have walked this debate. It should have been a clear knockout. But instead both sides will talk of both sides winning, which is always a good sign that neither side really did.

What sticks out to me is that no one has been able to work out how to deal with Trump. It appears that he turned the level up to 11 last night, but it shouldn't be a surprise. It is what Trump always does. He couldn't debate the actual issues, 200k+ dead, infection rates rising in 23 states, the economy in the crapper, him paying no taxes, Californian wildfires which he has paid no attention etc etc, so it was always going to be that he was going to come out shouting and trying to bully.

Yet Biden seem genuinely surprised and was definitely on the back foot for at leas the 1st 15 minutes.

SUrely somebody was gaming that exact scenario and can come up with a better strategy than simply letting him do it?

Debate went as expected. Biden did pretty well, no brain freezes and discussed plans and policies well.

Trump on the otherhand tried to drag it into the gutter. And all the public will remember is it was chaotic which probably works for him.

Biden by far the better candidate.

How do you stop him without it simply devolving into a full blown shouting match though?

On some levels letting him rant and babble was probably a better strategy for Biden than getting dragged into the Mud. Trump did more damage to himself among the voters he really needs to win over.



As a Moderator Wallace should have been the one to cut Trump off - Certainly for the next debates (If Trump turns up when he sees the fall-out from this one) the Moderator should have a microphone mute button for both candidates and maybe even a visible count-down clock for the speaking time allocations.

What is his policy if a vaccine doesn't come through in the next few months? Does he have a Plan B?
