Also thought I was imagining some lightening but there was a strike about 30kn north of me which another user confirmed a few posts above. Also the dogs started barking so definitely not imagining it.

Am up on top of hill in North kildare work uninterrupted views right down to the Wicklow mountains and am viewing just east of south. After 5 long minutes, I finally saw a distance flash!
