It was a thank you to all involved in schools not just teachers
A lot of parent councils were the ones who organized anything that happened in various schools
And some student councils judging by twitter

The most hard-line and "unsympathetic to teachers" ministers of education, and I'm being kind with these words, have always been teachers. They want to go out of their way to show that they are not favourable to the unions or teachers in general. This one is no different.

She'd have to unlock her bunker door from the inside inorder for that to happen. As a minister she is a disgrace.

Are the worst ministers usually teachers?... just thinking about it now....a minister being a teacher doesn't seem to help us much...Seriously.... what is going on with the Department?

Edit:sorry i see this point has been made

True. Certainly the most damage that I can remember.

Noel Dempsey had his moments as Min for Ed too

Most of the teachers have been bad, but nobody could surpass Ruairi Quinn for ego driven destruction.

The crass decision to force that school to reopen is made by individuals far above Norma's payscale if not Michéals...

The one that got the ball rolling was Mary O Rourke. Cut the pupil teacher ratio significantly. Vicious. Let's make no mistake, these teachers turned spineless politicians pander to the anti-teacher mob.

Ruairi Quinn was a cataclysmic disaster for education. We are still suffering and trying to repair the damage he has done. His legacy is one of ruination and a personal vendetta.

    Fcuk Putin. Glory to Ukraine!

What did Ruairi Quinn do that was so terrible?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,215 ✭✭✭khalessi

Just reading that the school in Glanmire Cork had 17 cases they closed for 2 weeks. Led to 47 cases in all in the community. Here we have a principal trying to prevent that happening and Norma wants it reopened. Shame on DES.

New Junior Cycle springs to mind

He was progressive on the junior cycle.
And right about the need for higher maths in primary teachers.
Annoying teachers seems to be a hanging offence for some.

There are huge issues with the Junior Cycle. I wouldn't describe it as progressive.

He also rowed back on a pre-election promise of reversing third level registration fees.

Another school closing St itas Special School Drogheda due to staff as close contacts. Wonder how long before they are told to reopen.

Claremorris now has 4 more cases. I wouldn't be sending mine in on Monday, lunacy being open.

Also, he cancelled at least two ready to go building projects in Donegal and spent the money in Dublin
