Specific number of tickets sold can cause oddities. I've got Aerspace for cheaper than any of the other options before - had to submit screenshots with the expense request or it would have been refused!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,160 ✭✭✭goingnowhere

Fairly common to see the AerSpace fare lower on LHR flight than other options as they come from different inventories.

By being very clear it is NOT business class is actually good for demand as it opens up a wider market, I'm stuck on lowest economy fare...

Ya, I was booking a flight to Amsterdam and Advantage came in 50 euro cheaper than Saver even before you paid for a seat or bringing the bag on board. Made no sense really

EI-EIK leaving storage in Ciudad Real for Bordeaux. Possible maintenance before entry into service with EI?

Would appear to be the likely course of action, all the A330-300's would be needed for the Summer program

Has there been any more updates on the outsourcing of ground operations? Which I hope they don’t.

No vote reported as over 80% yesterday but strange silence from company and union since.

They seem to be looking for seasonal Ground staff in Shannon and Cork two.

Article in Irish Times today mentioned the overwhelming rejection. But also mentioned that BA are giving their staff a 10% pay rise.

Judging by trip reports over the last 12 months Aer Lingus have been (almost deliberately) pissing off their customers. No wonder they are looking bad financially.

Good to see these services resume. Pity they’re not re-opening the crew base.

I wonder how cost effective positioning crew in taxis will be now at the current prices at the pumps, not something they can hedge against.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭sherology

Are the SNN LRs not operating a morning rotation to LHR (or even DUB for connections and new crew) etc.?

They are operating SNN LHR when EI380/381 the early morning flight when it resumes on 27 March.

  • Registered Users Posts: 387 ✭✭sherology

So back to three flights a day then as per pre-covid. Thanks for the info.

It seems like Aer Lingus have put an order for 2 a320NEO (yes 320).

I’d say its the start for their SH fleet renewal.

lodged on the airbus webpage for February 2022

LRB operated EI135 today, LRG positions down tomorrow to operate the same tomorrow when LRB will operate the resumed EI111.

Yes I don’t think it was ever officially announced but was strongly rumoured.

Much the same as BA and Iberia, they’ll gradually replace older 320s with NEOs

According to Wikipedia there are still 20 320ceo family orders on the book, I presume the order book for ceo family is now closed?

Hmm... it lists 2 319ceo orders for Hamburg International who went bust in 2010, 6 320ceo and 7 321ceo for Iran Air - are they in a position to take delivery (sanctions) even if they still want to? You'd have to doubt the accuracy of these figures

So is the ceo family finished production does anyone know?

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

Although IAG signed a letter of intent for 200 737 MAX's in 2019, and the status of the order is still unclear, if IAG does firm up that order, do you think some of those MAX's will go to EI?

The IAG group's A320ceo family (A319/320/321) needs replacing in the next few years.

According to an article in the latest edition of Airliner World, the average age of the A320CEO family in IAG is 14.2 years old, while a fifth of the fleet is over 20 years old.

A considerable number of EI's A320s were manufactured circa late 2004-2005.

    What is the ideal solution?

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 4,166 Mod ✭✭✭✭Locker10a

No don’t think any MAXs will ever go to EI.

The ideal solution is replacing older 320s with NEOs, which is what is happening evidently

There's no benefit to Aer Lingus switching back to a Boeing fleet.

I'd imagine IAG were promised a discount off some 78s or 77s for giving Boeing a nice PR dig out when they were at their lowest ebb. Doesn't mean they have any intention of ever firming that MAX letter of intent up into an order.

Fingal County Council are certainly not competent to be making decisions about the most important piece of infrastructure on the island. They need to stick to badly designed cycle lanes and deciding on whether Mrs Murphy can have her kitchen extension.

Good news about the A320neo order, typical low key Aer Lingus fashion by just opting for two at the moment but still a welcome development.

One downside is the loss of the current seat which is probably the most comfortable in Europe these days.

The IAG short haul cabin spec uses the Pinnacle which is slimline but looks stylish and comes with a headrest and is usually used in the first 10 or so rows. The other seat is the Recaro which is essentially an ironing board with pencil thin armrests, BA and IB use this for the remainder of their cabin.

Aer Lingus, being a ‘value carrier’ in IAG, will probably end up with the Recaro unfortunately. They’ll go with a standard 186 config but should at least get power points, USB charging and possibly WiFi.

Pretty much finished. the last A320ceo family delivery was Nov 2020 to Royal Thai Airforce

Do any IAG group airlines operate Boeing narrow bodies?
