Well the drought seems over in parts of the East for sure now with more unsettled weather to come. Its very unusual to see the bands of showers coming from a East/South East direction.

No rain here in Midlands yet

Knowing your luck it will fall either side if you.
We had 2.8 mm today with 18 mm in the month.

I've seen rain falling on Bufords land while I've been out gardening.

Lightening storms for today never happened.

Yea none here. Turned out a scorcher if an evening. Had to let stock into a meadow this evening. Have a few Glas meadows which are only fit for grazing but she can’t let them out on it.

We were lucky here to get in a train of thunder showers earlier, got over 10mm from them and 15.2mm altogether since midnight so that should help things a bit

I have a few meadows that were sown with wildflowers in spring so no fert etc applied. I could cut them now with a a lawnmower.

Got nothing worth talking about here and doesn’t look like we’ll get much soon either. Not much grass left. Badly need some of that rain that’s going around some parts.

I was topping an 8 acre field on Wednesday, had to stop half way through, went back on Friday to finish it. Mad growth for 2 days

I’m more or less out of grass. Cows and calves are being closed into a paddock and fed for the foreseeable. I can see serious fodder shortages around me this winter.

I asked a couple of people and they both said it would be fine. Iv hills here but I think you're a little steeper than me. We didn't get the big downpours in the end.

Still no rain here and grass is getting very tight with little or no regrowth. We drafted the cows/calves into two separated areas yesterday. We moved the older calves/cows into a couple of fields that were recently grazed by cull cows and put the creep feeder in to supplement the calves. The younger calves/cows are going to follow on after the yearling bulls and hopefully the electric fence keeps them separated. The bucket reared calves are now back in the paddocks beside the house on whatever nip of grass they find, nuts and good quality hay.

Got a good bit afterwards, worse lightning and thunder I ever witnessed at around 2

  • Registered Users Posts: 758 ✭✭✭CHOPS01

Started just after 11 last night with a whopper if a shower lsdting about 10 mins. A lot of real heavy showers on and off since then.
Put my 4 little calves out into a paddock yesterday morning. Would there be any fear of them with the soaking they have got last night

All the rain has disappeared for the week for us here. About a total for the week of less than 10mm forecast. Probably lose that too

I say every place will get rain this week. The high pressures have moved South and North and the low pressures are coming right across us. Have got about 25 mm since mid week it starting to make a difference. Paddocks are nearly all cleaned off I have been using a leader follower system for the last month and forcing the land not in the finishing bunch to clean out paddocks no topping needed. will have good grass from 10 days time on.

Was looking dire early in the week, no rain coming and forecast constantly changing butI can really see places greening up this weekend
