Lonestar had more than one song. Who knew! I'll give them a vote cos I like the song and he didn't butcher it too much

Communards gets my only other vote this round. Catchy tune

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground - good cover, even better use of a green screen!!
Siouxsie and The Banshees - A close second to the chillies for the green screen action
Devo - I Can't Get No Satisfaction - I was very close to nominating this myself, delighted someone else did

    Okay, I'm back!

    My votes are in bold.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Higher Ground Vs The Killers - Shadowplay - Heard the Killers version of this before I got to know the original by Joy Division. Very respectful to the original and good delivery by Brandon Flowers.

Siouxsie and The Banshees - Dear Prudence Vs Lonestar - Walkin In Memphis - Good cover by Siouxsie and Co. of a lesser known Beatles tune. Plus it was my nomination!

Devo - I Can't Get No Satisfaction Vs Roxy Music - If There Is Something - Whacky but brilliant cover version, making it their own.

Sufjan Steven's - Amazing Grace Vs Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way - It's kind of catchy - sort of love/love relationship with that song, but mainly positive. The other song I just heard, and I'm not sure about it!

You never heard of Don't Leave Me This Way! Wow! It used to be a dance floor filler!

Yes, there were at least two versions of it out in the 1970s - blending soul and disco: Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes and Thelma Heuston.

The Killers - Shadowplay - nominated this (i think) so it wins this very bloody tough choice
Siouxsie and The Banshees - Dear Prudence - hear this on today xm a lot and liked it
Communards - Don't Leave Me This Way - this is my winner of the two options

    Snap :)

Didn’t think it was that well known. Robert Smith in the lineup too.

It actually was their highest placed single in the UK charts, reaching Number 3.

It's strange that Soft Cell and The Communards wrote most of their own stuff, but their only Number Ones were cover versions!

Actually, despite the entry for Roxy Music here, most of their songs were written by them (usually Bryan Ferry). Again, their only Number 1 was in fact a cover version - Jealous Guy. Not to be confused with Bryan Ferry's solo stuff, which had a lot of covers!

Thats all for tonight folks, continue tomorrow, thanks for sticking around.

    My votes:

Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind Vs The Futureheads - Hounds of Love - The Futureheads really make it their own with this quirky cover.

Roxy Music - Jealous Guy Vs Radiohead - Nobody Does it Better - They are both okay but I think Roxy just shades it for its pathos.

Saint Etienne - Only Love can Break your Heart Vs Joe Cocker - With a little help from my friends - Joe Cocker's interpretation is just superb.

Smokin' Mojo Filters - Come Together Vs Snake River Conspiracy - How Soon is Now - Paul Weller and Co. stick close to the original and it sounds cool.

Jesus I'm really not sure about that radiohead cover. I wouldn't put him as the world's greatest singer! Not voting for jealous guy either as don't think much of that either.
