Sweden ain't doing to bad at all and they did nothing really.

Italy seem to call every death a Corona death for awhile and got this huge number breaking news every day for weeks.

If you were fired out through the window in a car crash it was Corona fault.

Our HSE is woeful so we took a nuclear option.

Open everything with restrictions I say

Sweden did far from nothing, elderly are cocooning the majority of people are working from home and there are widespread social distancing measures in place including a ban on large gatherings. It's a big myth that they're not doing anything

Very soon I hope but not expecting it. Heart says June but head says **** knows

What was the wine bar idea that the Vintners shut down?

I would like to think bars will be open by June. Nightclubs, maybe at the same time, maybe a bit later.

Ultimately, we are going to have to move from a model of lockdown to a model of general freedom, with some restrictions and a lot of personal responsibility.

People who live with or care for vulnerable will definitely have to avoid nightclubs/busy pubs etc, but there's no reason they can't enjoy a quieter establishment, especially with a beer garden etc.

For a lot of young boggers* in Dublin, a serious choice will need to be made Either socialise in Dublin or go home to visit the parents, but you can't do both. i.e. if planning on going home for a weekend, you would need to self-impose a strict, low-risk routine that involves avoiding bars/clubs/houseparties in the 2 weeks beforehand etc.

Gigs, festivals and sporting events do need to be kept closed until year-end at least.

If people force the politicians to keep bars/clubs closed during the summer, then we are going to have even bigger problems. Locking down for a few weeks is tolerable, even an element of fun. Locking down for months on end will do serious physiological damage and completely destroy the economy and people's lives because of it.

*said with all due respect ;)

Young adults seem to be the safest from the virus.

Restrictions for them should be lifted ahead of everyone else.

If done that way, pubs/clubs for restricted ages could probably open well before the year's end.

young adults can still carry the virus so giving them freedom to mingle wouldn't be a good idea

Jesus, I’d love to sit up on a bar stool and drink 10 pints of stout. Even better if there was horse racing on the television.

Wouldn't the social distancing rule have to be abolished before pubs and clubs could open?
You can run shops with social distancing but not pubs.

Only my two cents is but the shops will slowly open then pubs later.

I'd say the summer is gone tbh.

Probably towards September time for pubs.

If we get a testing system close to China's where we are using an app. Pubs could just check everyone before going in that they were clear.

Obviously still miles away from this.
