The curtain twitching Holy Joe's have really taken over this thread this evening. Probably because all the other posters are out enjoying themselves at house parties.

the amount of house parties tonight is fcuking stupid

Would you consider ringing the Gardai? If not pass the details on and i will without hesitation.

Believe what you like, unproven vaccines have real risks. The 1976 swine flu vaccine was linked to a rare paralytic neurological illness called Guillain-Barré syndrome.

Maybe you can voluteer to be in the test group, maybe your balls will fall off.

Considering you don't have balls in the first place maybe you should sign up. And the fact you feel the need to resort to such childishness tells a lot about you. What a sad individual you are, to be pitied really.

I'm confused so daily death numbers are incorrect for ROI

No they are correct for the reported dates not the occurrence date.

There is a lag in timings. I could die today but that death is not reported until next week. Deaths must be reported within 3 months of the death occurring.

Where, because there are none near me. Is it just somebody playing a bit of loud music.

I'm feeling so sorry for anyone on this thread and in the whole country that has a relative living in or working in a nursing home right now. What's unfolding is incredibly sad. Just checking rip.ie for my own county is so depressing. Be of no doubt, the residents are dying in the homes, not in hospital. It's stated in the death notices.

I had a phone call with a person whose role involves facilitating communication between the HSE and nursing homes in our region yesterday. She said her opinion is that the biggest misstep so far is not recognising in advance that the nursing homes would be the real front line. Why did we not see this coming when it had already happened elsewhere?

I sincerely hope that the new measures being taken can minimise the toll this monster of a virus will have within Ireland's care homes.

    Sad, sad times.

I am living through, deja vu...
    Nursing Homes....
    I’ve shed a thousand tears…
Whilst you all may be blaming the Government, right now, right here, for inadequate action, for years, for some of us we have tried to fight the system, for our loved ones, I spent 3 years with HIQA, Ombudsman etc etc, to no avail, the blatant abuse of our aged, in the cloak of care hidden by profits, brings both heartache and helplessness, because once they enter, for you, and all of us, we don't have a say, they own our parents, nothing can be done, I tried.. so hard...it broke me....so whilst not Nursing Homes are culpable in this disaster I can tell you right now that some of those running them....deserve to go to hell....

A lot of western countries seem to have succeeded in plateauing their daily death tolls.

Clueless in quoting an Oxford professor? What's your great contribution in this whole crisis? People in Oxford and other institutions around the world working on a vaccine will be lauded and remembered while no one gives two ****s about you. Is that why you're so bitter? You come on an internet forum to talk like some cynical edgy badass. Go do one.

You must agree though, there has never been research or funding into a vaccine on this magnitude before plus never been the numbers to trial on before. This has to save time.

Just ignore him. He's trying to fill in some vacuum in his life. He was probably social distancing years before any of us. A sad sack really.

    This, a million times!!

Do you know what's the scary part? That there are a lot of people who not only don't see and don't know, but don't want to see and don't want to know.

Which incidentally does not correspond to the daily reported numbers, but I would imagine that boils down to notification and investigation timeframes.

WOW... USA... 4.25% of the world’s population and over one third of the world’s deaths already.

And I agree, it is going to get worse

Many especially from the nursing homes are not actually confirmed til some time later I would guess ergo the daily release figures are not anywhere near real time. But with the ramped up testing we should know deaths from the past few days

You cant rush the safety testing on drugs. That can only be shown with time. Most experts agree it takes about 5yrs to develop a safe drug. Personally i think the answers will come from existing drugs.

I got a call from the nursing home that my mother is in to tell me that if anything happens her, she won't be shifted to hospital.

    She has Alzheimer's.
Was talking to her on the phone a little earlier and she thought someone was after leaving her on a back road between two villages near my area and could I come and take her home :(

Blade, my heart genuinely breaks for you and for your poor mother. I pray she'll be safe.
