Let's hope the sector gets some clarity today

The talk of the 'small number of spectators' for sporting events doesn't sound to promising in terms of gigs returning to something worthwhile til the autumn at least

There is no chance of that Genesis gig going ahead in September.
Doubtful their UK tour will go ahead either considering the age profile of their fans.

Genesis announced a US tour for Nov and Dec today, I'd say they will be starting the tour in the US.

In that case that's a lot of gigs planned for Autumn/Winter in the 3arena gone then

    Erasure
    Andrea Bocelli
    The Black Crowes
    Jools Holland
    Alanis Morissette
    James
    Elton John

Flipside is the average fan should be well vaccinated by then. But yeah not sure about gigs in 3Arena in the Autumn. Up in the air really!

Interesting article in the Telegraph today

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/04/29/socialdistancing-not-needed-big-events-boris-johnson-told/
Social distancing for large events can be scrapped from June 21, Boris Johnson will be told next week after initial results from a pilot scheme found no spike in Covid cases among attendees.

An interim report into the reopening trials will advise the Prime Minister that crowds can return safely and without distancing provided that measures such as staggering entries and good ventilation are in place.

The science board on the Events Research Programme, being run by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, has found that many of the protective measures put in place in the trial events appear to be working.

It is understood that, while data is still coming in and more events are to take place in the coming weeks, there has been no alarming spike in virus cases among participants.

A heavy emphasis has been put on testing, and for each trial participants must take both a PCR and lateral flow test before and after the event.

The report is understood to make it clear that testing would be likely to be a key part of reopening large events. How that would be done is still being worked out.

Suppose it's promising but that testing thing could have teething problems

I don’t see too many big experienced artists signing up in the near future to be exposed to the covid of a % of 80,000 fans. And the insurance bill/claims/staff H&S claims.

What pisses me off is that despite having my phone, email, banking & visa details NONE of the vendors I’ve spent quite big money on tickets with, have bothered to send me a single email about any of them. I’m expected to trawl through sites or deal with ambiguous speculation from agents and non specific vague recordings from premium cost 1890 numbers. Boils my piss really - just not good enough from a small cohort controlling an entire industry. Its been a year now - man up to your responsibilities and stop making me chase my money and running me from billy to jack via remote recordings and non human interactions that leave me dangling.

Interesting. Guess it gives them chance of having it in Autumn and if not postponing.

Should be a simple no test result, no entry policy. Especially if its a small trial event.

Still nothing on Forbidden Fruit. Half wondering are they trying to postpone to later in the year?

Might have already been asked but concer from last year and pushed out to this year, ticket master contacted today to say concert will be moved to next year instead but have a wedding same weekend. Does anyone know if there is some way out of these tickets to get a refund or is it a lost cause?

Interesting few words from MM from an article tonight. https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/othersport/arid-40281479.html

'Meanwhile, Mr Martin also said that he hopes to see supporters back in stadiums this summer - but says public health officials are "not enthusiastic” about antigen tests.

With under-age players returning to training last week, Mr Martin said there was a worry about people's mental health as non-elite adults prepare to return to playing fields.

While Leinster Rugby had an offer to host a trial match with supporters was turned down the Taoiseach said there are plans being developed to get people back into stands.

Minister Jack Chambers is working with public health officials on “extensive protocols” to get people back attending games.

“We will be trialing some events, you’re probably looking at July,” Mr Martin said.

Mr Martin added that while adult games at non-elite level are set to resume next month, there are no immediate plans for indoor sports like basketball to resume.

“The summer is going to be outdoors,” he confirmed'

    No chance

Oh I dont think it could go ahead later in the year. Just wondering could that potentially be the reason for organisers not cancelling it over 4 weeks out. Will probably be cancelled over next few weeks though.
