Jesus my votes that I didn't care about made a big difference!

In fairness I particularly dislike Seven Nation Army so don't feel too bad about it!

I have to say I will be quite happy for any of the 4 to win.
Maybe not the best songs of the decade, but 4 great songs nevertheless

Upcoming gigs and events: Rhiannon Giddens, New Purple Celebration, Foil Arms and Hog, Nova Twins, Tanita Tikaram, David Byrne

I'm shocked these are the final 4 to be honest.

Even if I discount my taste in music I wouldn't have picked these whereas the 70s and 90s ones were where I would have expected

I'm especially glad our music tastes were so in sync earlier in the tournament that I could actually call in such a bold favour. I owe ya one! :D

Sorry to see Stan go, was the best of the final 8 in my opinion. A lot of other better songs went out early in the competition, but hopefully Eminem, Gorillaz or Franz Ferdinand prevail. Nothing against Pink personally, she's a very good singer and seems like a good egg. But her songs are complete sh!te

Yeah I'd agree, been a more open contest than the others I think, has made this very exciting imo.

I will run the semis tonight if that suits.

The Final may have to hold till about 9pm tomorrow evening as I have a funeral to attend.

Yep big variety in the genres doing well which is interesting to see what other people like.

The 90s suited me down to a tee with most of the songs that did well being ones I'd listen to whereas I wouldn't dream of listening to most of the final 8 songs bar the Pink one

Lose Yourself is the only song worthy of being in the semi-final. As much as I like 'Like a Pill' and Pink in general, not a semi-finalist.

The biggest joke is Franz Ferdinand though. You people do realise that it's an anonymous vote and you're not going to receive any cool points or street cred, right?

I hope all nine of the people that voted for 'Take Me Out' over 'Stan' get a severe bout of diarrhea.

Pink - Because it's the second best song left.

Eminem - Far and away the best song left. Gorillaz have overstayed their welcome.

PInk - just like a pill as I like her performance and I nominated her for another song and glad she got this far.

Emiinem - Lose Youself who I think is a poet of the modern generation has great flow and rhythm and I nommed this song as I love to lose myself to it and dance like a freak

Missed these... I'm very proud of you all :)

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out Probably the best song left out of a not so great bunch

Eminem - Lose Yourself no idea how Gorilliza made it this far but its time for it to go,

I like all these songs but take me out shouldn't have beaten Stan. So that's my first reason for picking PINK. My second reason for picking PINK is I can't hear that song without singing along. Love a good sing a long song! :D

Second vote goes to EMINEM. I prefer Stan but Lose Yourself is a great song too. And all the older Eminem songs bring back great memories for me.

Pink - Just like a pill

Always been a big fan of Pink (well not her ****e stuff like Get the party started) and this is a quality tune. Also found the Franz Ferdinand track to be a bit irritating

    Eminem - Lose Yourself

I actually went and listened to the Gorrilaz song before voting here to see which I disliked least and I have to say if both came on the radio (which since Spotify is never going to happen) I dislike the Eminem track less so I'll give that the nod

Match 1: Pink - Just Like A Pill

Once again, always been a Pink fan and love this song. So happy that it has made it to the semis.

Match 2: Eminem - Lose Yourself

And once again, one of my favourite Eminem songs.

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
It's just my genre. I remember this coming out and it was awesome, it's still damn good

    Eminem - Lose Yourself
I mean, you need a reason here? I like Gorillaz, I'm not a big Eminem fan but this a fůcking cracking tune. Every word of it is basically perfect

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
Seemed to be played everywhere on nights out in the 00s, reminds me of good nights out.

    Eminem - Lose Yourself
    Prefer this

Pink - Just Like A Pill, a good song but should be nowhere near the finals. However, I prefer it to FF

Eminem - Lose Yourself, best song left, a worthy winner.

P!nk - Just Like A Pill - I was about to vote for Take Me Out here, but listening to the two songs back to back, it has to be Just Like A Pill... I'm a big fan of a strong female vocalist, and P!nk I think is up there with the best of them, and this is one of my favourite songs of hers. She's also left a longer lasting impression as an artist than Franz Ferdinand have (although if this had been their far superior song Jacqueline in contention right now, it'd probably be a very different story).

Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood - personally I think this would've made a great final, both quality tunes. Clint Eastwood is one of my all-time favourite songs though, and brings back a lot of good memories of certain people for me, which is why I nominated it and why I'm voting for it to be in the final, even though its undoubtedly got a big hitter to take down here if its to progress.

    1. Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out - Just loved this from first time I heard it. Not really into their other stuff but this is a good song.

    2. Eminem - Lose Yourself - His best song. Also if there’s no Oasis in last four then Albarn doesn’t belong there either :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,463 ✭✭✭✭rainbowtrout

Franz Ferdinand - this was one of my nominations, and is way better than Pink

Eminem - Not a massive fan, but this is way better than Gorillaz

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 7,622 Mod ✭✭✭✭Irish Aris

Franz Ferdinand - because it's a great song and because Alex Kapranos seems like a pretty cool guy!!

Eminem - I don't like rap at all and he was always coming across as very rude (although it could all be a facade). But 8 Mile was a great movie and Lose Yourself captures the essence of the film perfectly. A well deserved Oscar too!

    Semi Final 1
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out. One of my nominations. Reminds me a bit of my favourite band, Talking Heads.

    Semi Final 2
Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood. Also one of my nominations. I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, but I really can't stand Eminem. That said, Clint Eastwood is a really cool, laid back song and deserves to win in its own right, not just because I think Eminem is really sh*t.

Pink - Just Like A Pill - cause blah blah blha blah is boring, like 1 note the whole song. SNOOOORE and also now I might confess I love PINK!

Eminem - Lose Yourself and I that Gorillaz song is not the best. Lose yourself is just a better song

    Pink-Like A Pill
So this is the only song in this whole thread that I hadn't heard before that really stood out. There was an Xx song that was ok too. I thought that the noughties were a bad time for music and this thread hasn't changed my opinion unfortunately. It's not exactly Don't Fear the Reaper v Bohemian Rhapsody is it?

    Eminem-Lose Yourself
I really like the pre-chorus stop-start rap rhythm -"oh, there goes rabbit" etc.

And you do realise that people like different things and we're not all obliged to like whatever music you like, yeah?
