Seems that the Uk PR agencies def have RTÉ in their sights now

Seems like Any time some minor Uk public figure or celeb publishes a book etc they get a big fawning interview on the show

This una Healy has been given so much publicity from RTÉ.

Oh god, Damien just did it again to Una Healy: "I loved your new song, Sweat It All Again"

Una: "You mean Swear It All Again"

Cringe! It's just sloppy presenting, makes him look like an amateur. I missed the George Miley thing, thank god. I haven't even read any Le Carré novels and even I know it's Smiley!

Heard that. And he prefaced it saying he had been listening to it all week and loved it

He didn’t even know the title

    Caught rapid

It was John le Carrés son. John wrote many spy novels one of which was Smiley's People, George Smiley was the Smiley in question. Damien referred to him of course as George Miley

I thought it was terrible interview, another RTE presenter who couldn't be arsed preparing properly and getting so many other things wrong about John le Carré and repeating these even when he was corrected. I was cringing all the way through it. The focus on the Irish flag, the whole parochial approach which is endemic now with RTE.

Think I enjoyed the human element, how the son referred to missing him and the loss. But as you say poor of damo having details wrong.

Did Le Carre son mention what time the documentary is airing on Radio Four. Loves Le Carre, The Spy who came in from the cold. Has to be one of the bleakest books I have ever read.

Bit harsh, Beller, in my opinion.

Sorry bell replied to the wrong post.

You'd have to wonder what Damien thought a song called "Sweat It All Again" would be about? The rigours of marathon running? The excessive intensity of hot yoga?
Maybe he was confusing Mick Lally and Alec Guinness when he was interviewing John le Carre's son?

"Winging it" seems to be part of the culture with RTE radio presenters. We hear it most days with D'Arcy and Tubridy on their radio shows.

She very nicely told him to feck off and MYOB when he asked about her kids relationship with their dad.

I caught picturehouse playing 'sunburst' on the late late a few weeks ago. A song RT told us he 'loves' and proceeded to call it 'sun shine'.

If it was a one off I'd be inclined to give the benifit of the doubt and say it was a slip of the tongue but being somewhat familiar with the hosts work I would think that it's more likely to be another example of:

    1. Insincerity by the host ( I get such a creepy sly vibe from him); and
    2. Lack of preparation and effort.

Havent seen any newspapers yet, but it seems there is a bit more fuel in the tank on vaccine queues. Paul Cullen had a piece in The Irish Times last week about tens of thousands of missing vaccines in the nursing-homes

There are 32,000 patients in nursing homes, and somewhere between 20-30,000 staff. 177,000 vaccines were dispatched to their sector so that leaves about 60,000 unaccounted-for.

I'm sure the same happened in the UK, they never really broke the news; but when the progress is so slow, stories like this really irk people. Rightly or not.

What's strange is if they are 'unaccounted for' surely that would mean the HSE has no record of who received them which would mean whoever received them will have zero benefit should vaccine passports become a thing.

Hear, hear! Now let’s hear what a man has to say.

“It matters not what someone is born, but what they grow to be” - A. Dumbledore

“It is not blood that makes you Irish but a willingness to be part of the Irish nation” - Thomas Davis

They didn't even cover the story about the two women arrested on their way back from Dubai, just 10 minutes wasted on the lack of diversity in politics.

I can’t believe she was on again, so soon after her last show.

    She’s a self-proclaimed expert on everything.

Did I hear Nora mention she was a victim of domestic abuse from her husband for 9 years?
Is this a different husband than the one that died?
Was this guy convicted in court or are you allowed to make such statements about people on air?

    The dead can’t be libeled.

Did Damian just say "your feral upbringing"? The man was an orphan, not a stray cat.
